I registered several months ago on ebay and until the other day had not purchased any items. The email address that I used to register was a Yahoo address that I no longer use, and has since expired. I was high bidder on a couple of items, and when I made contact with the seller I gave them my new email address. I have had no problem with the sellers and have made payment to them. I have gotten one feedback from the sellers and it was very positive. I tried to go on ebay the other day and found my user ID suspended. I am thinking that it is bacause of the expired email address. I tried twice to change my email with ebay and the second time it said that the change had already been made. Does someone know who to contact to resolve this matter? Thanks in advance.

Nope, the [email protected] does not work anymore. All you get is a automatic reply directing you to a web page.

bopchi: Oh. You're one of *them*.

You were suspended because someone reported that mail to you bounced. It might have even been me; I report these daily and I'm happy (yes, happy) to say I have gotten a number of folks NARU'd.

Maybe you think it's no big deal having a dead email address, maybe you think the seller can just "make a note of the new address" and sail along merrily. And maybe some sellers do.

But those of us who use automation or an auction service to send out end of auction invoices (aka WBN) get burned by people who do not bother changing their email addresses with eBay.

Here's something else to consider:

As a seller, if [email protected] is the winning bidder, how do I know that [email protected] is the same person? Maybe it's someone who got sniped by you at the last moment and figures they can get the item anyway by masquerading as you. We have actually had this happen.

the BIG eBay computer automaticly purges accounts that do not have a valid email address. (Its not a prefect setup so I'm sure it misses a bunch)This was done when eBay (the big computer) sent you an email acknowledging your bid and it bounced. They might even give you a second chance, but I doubt it. If you have given eBay your new email address, and the big ebay computer has sent you an email that did not bounce then you are all set. To check this just go to my eBay and check your account to see if it has the new email.
BEC also purges accounts that haven't had any activity for some number of months.
