Can a buyer do a chargeback on a Bidpay money order? ...
All the years I've used paypal to accept payments, the thousands of transactions have all been flawless ... but with the many threads i read about paypal 'problem' transactions, i was thinking about starting to accept Bidpay only [as way of credit card payments] ...
Don'tcha just love making executive decisions like this?

you should ask bidpay how they handle chargeback.
since they are using the cc to buy a money order (not goods),then what reason do they give to their credit card company??
a money order is a money order.
let us know.

I believe a Bidpay rep once posted to these boards that they had never done a chargeback to the seller. How could they, really? They have only the seller's name and address - no bank account or credit card information.

But they are very, very picky about approving the buyer and his credit card, and they ask that you ship only to the address they confirm. I don't mean "picky" as a detriment to Bidpay; frankly, I think it's wonderful.

Like has been stated, the buyer is not purchasing a widget with his credit card; he is purchasing a money order, and having it sent directly to a third party.

Bidpay will send you two emails; the first one tells you that the transaction is pending, and asks that you review your name and address as the buyer has given it to Bidpay; if it's correct, you do nothing.

Shortly thereafter, Bidpay will send you a second email, informing you that the buyer's request has been approved, and a specific shipping address has been confirmed (and asking you to ship to no other address). As long as you wait for Bidpay's second email, you will be all right. (I ship once I get that second email - as I know I'll get my money order.)

I have seen many sellers that only accept money orders or BidPay. Since I'm going to the post office every day I always choose to buy a postal money order rather than spend $3 for a BidPay money order and hassling the online process.

"I always choose to buy a postal money order rather than spend $3 for a BidPay money order and hassling the online process."

How refreshing! As opposed to all those people who try to tell me that buying a money order or writing a personal check is too much 'trouble'. Granted, not everyone goes to the post office every day, but it is a rare soul who doesn't have access to a way to mail a check.

But the advantage of Bidpay is being able to use a credit card (and whether some people will admit it or not, there are those who need to say "charge it".)

How much are money orders at the post office now? I read, but have forgotten. I think the net difference in using Bidpay (up to 30.00) is only 1.00-1.50.

And I'm not selling Bidpay, but I will admit that I love to find those emails!
