Sheesh.

I just heard that "The Two Towers" was already available by file swapping. The movie isn't even supposed to hit THEATERS until December.

I sell movies all day long (REAL ones), and it just kills me to hear about this stuff.

You fully understand that it is information you will be buying, and not the actual movies from the seller. The seller is just providing you with the information and access that he has developed. This information has given him the opportunity to buy pre-released DVDS for as little as $10.88!

hmmmmm - very deceiving.

There's a sucker born everyday and so far he has 8 of them. Remember you don't get something for nothing and what he is selling is nothing from what I can gather. Maybe I am wrong. I have been wrong before.

Even more astounding ... this eBay "seller" has been reported to eBay by at least 5 different members!

I suggest all legitiamte video dealers make a report. This kind of "seller" is taking away your legitimate sales of these movies when the do get released.

libra ... he is "seling" a link to his bootlegging site. Beats the eBay rule of not being able to include this in a listing!

Well, he's using a Hotmail account to do business. Contact Hotmail and send a link to the auction. They will close the email account.

I think this is a major problem with eBay. They let sellers and buyers use the free email service i.e.hotmail, yahoo etc and they think they can get by with anything. I wish those email services would require that when applying for their services that they have to have a letimate email account or a form of identification so that they can know who their customers are.

The last time I looked, ebay does require a valid credit card if you use hot mail etc.
Then they do know who the customer is.

You're right trai. Also, if you are not a US resident and you want to sell on eBay, you have to provide them with your bank account number. Apparently they verification companies cannot verify non-US residents.

The new Mootropolis has an agreement on their front page that forces you to select either a "Born before 1989" or "Born after 1989" link before you can even proceed to the next registration page. While not foolproof, it is a little more onerous than having a minor simply click on "I Agree" after not reading pages and pages of what s/he is supposed to be agreeing to.

I wonder if eBay should adopt a similar idea to slow down the minors who appear and place bids all summer then deadbeat on the sellers? CC numbers are so easy to get ... you don't even have to be a human being, and as a matter of fact, you don't even have to be alive to get one these days.

Oh oh ... I just checked that link.

rewassago ... you are now the proud owner of an illegal Asian bootleg of Star Wars Episode II. And to think if you had of waited another couple of months you could have spent your $16.00 on the real one and got all the extras (except the Asian language sub-titles).

Shucks eh ...

But hey, at least I can say I had it before anyone else on my block OH, and it doesn't have any subtitles.....

The $16 is including shipping. The DVD was $11.88 plus $4.88 shipping.

I will try to find this thread after I get it to let you all know if I got scammed.

From the description:

Subtitles : English, Chinese, Thai, Bahasa (Close Captioned)

You have to be a bit leery when the site is called D9 Movies ... the '9' means these are homemade DVDs.

I figure the street cost here for the real one, picked up at the local B&M store will be around $24.00 Canadian, including taxes.

You may not get ripped off ( it's not really false advertising when they forget to tell you it's an illegal bootleg, is it? ) providing the site can get it shipped to you before they get busted by the MPAA

Let us know if all the scenes are included with this rip and if they are all in the correct sequence ... many of these things are dubbed quickly by some little Asian who cannot speak or understand English, sitting in a dark basement full of recording equipment, and they sometimes get things in the wrong order.

In any event, you'll still have a nice shiny coaster or a "Torture Frisbee" disk if the movie part doesn't meet your expectations

From the MPAA HotTips team re the above named bottlegging/pirate etailer:

"I did a quick search on Star Wars II on this website and it appears that they are selling Region Free DVD's. Studios usually do not release any DVD Region Free, so I have forwarded this information to an investigator."

You'll probably get a good movie revvassago, maybe not of a quality of the ones released here.

It was fun watching Star Wars II before everyone else....

I didn't buy from them though... to many free sites to download the movie from if you are willing to spend the time.
