Just sold something on half, and it was to Hawaii. I decided to go to the USPS website, since I could not remember a sale to Hawaii (knowing that media mail travels ground) and sure enough, even to Hawaii it goes surface - 3-6 weeks. Ouch!!

Even in the contiguous 48 states media mail is become really slow. I'm about to stop making purchases that are shipped media mail. I ordered a book 3 weeks ago, still not here. My last media mail purchase was a DVD that took a month to get.

After about 10 days my patience factor starts eroding. I'm not blaming the sellers, I'm blaming myself for agreeing to media mail.

In my video auctions I offer both media rate and priority rate. I state it as "Buyer to pay $2.00 for media rate shipping (takes about 8-14 business days) or $4.00 for priority shipping. Most of my media rate goes pretty fast, but after 2 weeks I always get 2 or 3 buyers wondering when I shipped the item out and why it's taking so long (even though I send them an email the day it ships). If it's going to Alaska or Hawaii I tell them it takes about a month - depending on the closing price of the video I may bump them up to first class out of my own pocket (about 60 cents more)

Media Mail can really vary. Up to a thousand miles it can take only a few days but coast to coast it's at least 8 days.

On CDs most Half sellers offer a free upgrade to First Class it that usually costs the seller either nothing extra or very little. The increased sales make it worth any extra money.

Since you can now get Delivery Confirmation on First Class mail, I have moved away from MEdia Mail, unless it is a really heavy book.

The average delivery time for Endicia users shipping by Media mail with E/DC is 6.1 days.

Hawaii will be a special case in that the means of transport will likely be boat out of SFO or LA.

Hi-I have a good deal of experience with media mail to Hawaii. It can take 11 days to 100 days. I have experienced both. Usual is 21 days from the East coast.
