We're getting close to a mid-to-late September time frame in the article. You'd think they'd do a little advertizing about the show.

This link to an old news story about the show has a photo of ebay founder Pierre Omidyar. Is it just me or doesn't he look a lot like a shiek without the headdress?

It looks like the premiere has been delayed. This, from Silicon Valley News:

"eBay-TV," announced a year ago and slated to launch this season, is still finding its form. We probably won't see it before 2003. No one I spoke with at either eBay or Columbia TriStar could say for certain whether the format would be hour or half-hour or what the programming balance would be, other than that it would be nonfiction. There were vague hints of possible celebrity involvement. eBay spokesperson Chris Donlay echoes Classmates when he says the show will be "connection and great stories. And we hope it will drive more people to eBay. This is about awareness and spotlighting."

Thanks for the link. The show is such a good idea that I can't believe that it seems to be such a low priority.

The article made classmates.com sound like everyone that registers pays the $30/yr gold club fee. It's probably only 5% or less of the 31 million members that are paying the annual fee. The duplication of names and phony names is similar to ebay's inflated 50 million members number.

I believe that if it is done properly it can be a big hit. Of course it will probably only bring more sellers to ebay and thus further depress the already very low prices there.
