I recently have been having problems printing out their new "Netstamps" label which allows me to print out USPS priority mail label without an address. There are 25 stamps I can print on a "Netstamps" label which cost 3.85 each. I went ahead and tried to print all 25 at 96.25 but during the printing the printer failed and did not print the stamps but stamps.com software still charged it to my account. I tried to look for a reprint feature but we no luck so I contacted stamps.com.

Explained my case and the lady did not know what to do so I was pass to a supervisor. First thing he send was "got a pen and paper?". "Just get a pen and paper and write this down!" he yelled. So i wrote down an email address in which he states I need to explain my case to them to get a resolution. Right after that he hung up the phone.

So I wrote an email to [email protected] and next day they replied! wow....but

They explained that the money was already in USPS hands and cannot get it back for me but did offer to pay for half the amount of $96.25.

That is great but I don’t see the justification for charging me for something I cannot use. I don’t like to waste time fighting for it so I let it go but today....

I tried printing another set of 25 and guess what! Happened again! wow...here we go again. Call stamps.com and what do you know the supervisor got on the phone again so I immediately ask for his name before he hung up on me again. He stated that his name was "Paul..." and that's it. I asked for his last name but he said "the company does not refer to people's last name around here." lol what a joke. I'm down another $100 and what a laugh I'm getting! wow...to think of the nerve of some people in this world makes me sick but I laugh it off. Did the same thing and hung up the phone as soon as I started to ask questions.

Don't know what else to do. I don't like to waste time fighting for it. The time I waste on this I would make up by hard earned honest living. I sell on ebay quite a bit and I would never never treat a person this way or any other dishonest way. I am a straight forward person trying to make a living.

If you gonna this far in the long boring message and you have an alternative solutions beside using stamps.com please let me know. I use them to print out USPS priority stamps so I dont have to stand in line at the Post office.

Thanks a bunch!

ugh! sounds like you'd save a lot of money if you DID just go stand in line at p.o.

I've never used Stamps.com but I've been very happy with Endicia.com. They answer e-mails promptly and take care of problems (although I've had very few) quickly and professionally.

Wouldn't hurt to stand in line once and buy a whole bunch of $3.85 stamps....

You can also just purchase priority stamps on the USPS web site. I just ordered $300.00 worth of priority stamps and combination stamps to equal media rate. They were delivered to my door in a week with delivery confirmation - cost me a dollar to have them delivered, but well worth it because on Saturdays I don't stand in line at the post office. (If someone has insurance, or a large package, though, they have to wait until Monday when I do my normal drop off.)

I used to use stamps.com too- had problems and cacelled it. I now go to the USPS.com site and print out my postage, with the fancy bar codes on it on a plain sheet of printer paper and tape that on my packages. You also get free delivery confirmation on those which is nice. Half of the sheet of paper goes on the postage and the other half half the date you sent it, who it went to and the delivery confirmation number- very nice and easy to use- check it out I love it.

actually thinking too, that the problem is also directly attributed to your printer malfunctioning; i would get that one tuned up, or buy a new one.

I thought it was my printer too when I used stamps.com -my computer would say unable to commicate with the printer, I would be charged for postage, and have no postage. Since I have been using USPS.com I have had no problems. I have talked to other people who have had the same problem with stamps.com that have lost postage and have not had the same problem with USPS.com because when you print out the postage, it asks you did label print succussfully and you can put yes or retry and it will let you retry if it wasn't right. So even if you might have a tempermental printer- I think USPS.com is the way to go.

We used to use Stamps.com, and one of the major problems we had was postage printing errors (either our mistake or the printers). There are two things we did to solve this issue. One we switched to Endicia. There software seems less prone to printing errors, and they allow you to ship Media Mail, International, and Delivery Confirmation is free on Priority Mail, and only $.12 on other packages.

The second thing I did is purchase a Dymo LabelWriter 330 printer with the special labels form Endicia. This has saved our life. It is so much faster and easier to use than trying to load the labels manually in a laser printer, or inkjet. We have printed about 500 postage items since we did this, and have only lost 1 label becuase of a printer/software error. The Dymo labels are expensive, but they make processing packages very fast. We cut and pasted the address out of AW into the Endicia software, it does an address confirmation, and then we print. This all normally happens in about 20 seconds we have the Stamp, Address label and Delivery Confirmation.

I had a terrible time with Stamps.Com. I signed up with them a year or so ago. I never got the free scale they promised and it took forever to get them to cancel my account. They kept billing my cc even though I repeatedly asked for the cancellation by phone and e-mail.

What are the advantages of Endica over just using the USPS site to print the postage, labels and confirmation?

On the USPS.com site you put in a plain sheet of paper into your printer and than when the sheet comes out with all the bar does and stuff on it you cut the paper in half and keep one half for your records, it has free delivery confirmation and that number, the date you printed the postage, the date you will ship the package, your name and the name of the person you are sending the item to. I like that you don't have to pay a monthly fee for the service like stamps.com and if you don't want to use a credit card to pay for your postage online you can print out the paper with all the bar codes on it and stuff- tape it to your package and pay for it at the post office. i ship daily and this is all I use- works great for me.

Another good thing about printing from the USPS site is that it asks if the label was sucessfully printed. If not it gives you a 2nd try at printing it. If on the 2nd try it still did not work, it cancels the transaction & will refund the fees.

Hi all,

When I used Stamps.com I never had a problem. But then I decided to go with Simply Postage, but there system didn't want to work for me so I decided to cancel. But their website was and is so antiquated that you can't request to have your account cancelled by a simple click of the button, so I emailed their customer service requesting that they cancel my account and tell me how to send back their postage meter. Well, I never received an email but I was never billed so I thought they had cancelled my account. Well, this was back in Oct. 2001, well about 2 months ago I started getting billed on one of my credit cards, so far I have racked up over $300 in charges from them all which are being disputed by my CC company. I finally was able to speak to them and told them what happened and they said that they had been trying to bill this cc but it kept on being denied (because this cc was over it's credit limit and they had stopped accepting charges)and just now they able to start billing again. So instaead of taking the time to email or call me to find out what the problem is in the beginning like any company would they just let it slide for months amking me think that they had cancelled my account.

Well, to make a long story short (too late), PLEASE DON'T GO WITH SIMPLY POSTAGE AS THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS!!!!

Thanks,
Lori

Ok, Can you really buy 3.85 priority stamps prepaid from USPS web site? I've tried looking for it but no luck. All i found was the option to purchase regular stamps at .37 each. Can anyone else confirm or help?

Also, someone mention about getting prepaid 3.85 priority stamps from the Post Office too?

Thanks for all your help people!

Problems like this, along with several others, is exactly why I dropped Stamps.com in favor of Endicia some time ago, and I have never looked back. The Endicia program will occasionally give me error mesages that are totally wrong (like "you're not connected to the internet" or "you can't buy postage at this time because your credit card has been declined" ), when it was Endicia's server problems all along. But most of the time the program works well, which I could never say for Stamps.com. Stamps.com's program often resulted in me getting gouged for lost postage (or lost time persuing it for a credit).

Good luck to the original poster of this thread.

Jack

I've been using stamps for almost 2 years.
No real problems yet!
I only use it for letters.
A couple times the printer has goofed and when I contacted them for credit, I was told to send the partially printed envelope to them for credit!
Whats the point would cost me .37 to get .37 credit.
But other than that no problems.

In the 2 years I've had less than 10 misprints and I do about a 100 a month.

I have been using Stamps.com with no problems so far. I did notice that a few times I would go to print the postage and it never printed, it was like it never got sent to my printer. It was always the first stamp that I did each day, so I started doing a sample before I did the actual postage each day, and I haven't had a problem. I'm wondering about using USPS.com - do they charge a fee like stamps.com does???

Thanks!

usps does not charge a fee to print out postage, but you can only print postage out for priority.

Do you purchase the postage on-line like you do with stamps.com. I wish you could purchase postage without having to use Priority, I would like to use it with some of my smaller boxes. Thanks for the help.

yes you can print a label out with or without postage. just register and pay with your cc.

i thought i read somewhere that they were implementing other postage rates for the labels at one time. when they are going to do this i dont know. maybe someone else on this board does.

As others have said, if an Endicia user wants the stealth option just Email me or our customer support. We turn the feature on from our servers.

Margie Endicia supports all mail classes, including First Class, Priority, Media, Express, Parcel Post, Bound Printed Matter and Library rate. E/Delivery Confirm is available on all of the foregoing classes - it's free for Priority mail and 13 cent for other classes.

"i didnt like having to buy postage in bulk. i like buying the postage as i need it."

All "postage meters", including PC postage systems, work like that. With Endicia, you can buy postage in increments as small as $10 and there is no charge for "postage purchase transactions". Most of our users keep relatively small working balances since you can buy postage 24x7 and there is no transaction charge.

Conventional postage meters often are more difficult to replenish with postage (sometimes you have to physically call the vendor, get an "replenishment code", and type that into the meter) so folks often credit large amounts to these meters and work off that balance over a period of weeks or months. With PC postage, you dont face this problem.

Have used Stamps.com since their beginning. Never a problem (unless it is one of my own making). I used Endica too and it is good but personally like Stamps.com....I am an old dog and new tricks are getting harder every year. Sticking with what works for me.

The threads I have read about stamps.com have usually been unhappy ones, and even here the few users who praise it do so with stories of problems.

With their billing problems and mysterious postage disappearing, I wonder if this sleazy operation is having cash flow problems and just keeping the postage to pay the bills.

To me, Stamps.com is a company that deserves to die.

On the other hand Endicia and Harry Whitehouse is always here to answer questions. They obviously bend over backwards to keep their customers happy.

They deserve to prosper.

To me, doing business is mostly about taking care of the customer. Those of us with repeat sales and good word of mouth know this.
