I made two PayPal payments this evening for auctions that I won and the amount was taken from my PayPal balance, yet I got a message both times stating that I had used a credit card and my sellers would have to upgrade their accounts before they could collect the money. How can they say that when the money came from my PayPal balance? If the seller has a problem, what shall I do?
homestead7 is not my eBay user name.

We were having this discussion the other day. I though all payments from PayPal were on a credit card someone thought no. Do you have a credit card on file there? or just a bank account? I don't remember what I have as I have changed credit cards so much and I don't keep any money in my checking so I don't buy. I would be interested to hear other opinions. Even PayPal Damon if he comes in here.

even if you have a credit card on file, you don't get to make the choice anymore.

I paid for an auction the other day and part was covered by my Paypal account balance and the rest by my bank account...they used to let you make the choice of bank account or credit card but no more...

Then that explains why some sellers get irate when you pay with your paypal balance and they insist you made a credit card payment through paypal.

you do get to choose what payment type to use. when making a payment there is a link under sourse of funds that will take you to a page to select how you want to pay. either paypal funds, e-check or credit card if you have one on file. i just sent a payment this morning where i change the funding choice.

Used to Paypal automatically took it from your bank account first then credit card, I am glad to see you get a choice now.

However just say NO to paypal and you won't have these problems.

Twelvepole if you don't take PayPal then how long does it take you to get your money for your auctions. I just hate waiting and having the items sit around my house until I get their check. I know some people don't like PayPal but it is quick and easy, at least for me it is. It is a good thing we have choices some work and then some don't.

i know amzn marketplace, all sellers have to use their one click payment to sell books, dvd etc.
i wonder if the time will come where ebay will ask sellers to accept paypal/
i did a buy it now on ebay on october 25,seller does not accept papal and wants 9.45 for shipping a bracelet(insurance and handling and usps priority),she has received my personal check on nov 6th,and said the bracelet will go out today which is 18th of nov.
it could be she is selling for someone else but this does not make her bidder comfortable ,we have no recourse against her if item is not as described or she just simply skip town

I used to use Billpoint exclusively, but now that eBay is phasing them out, I am back to using checks and MO's only...

Glad some have luck with paypal but apparently they still have some serious problems.

If eBay one day makes sellers use nothing but paypal... then my days there would be over.
