Hi folks. First wanna thank some people on the AW board who bought some of my items after i mentioned a featured auction that i was running in a comment earlier. Thank you from the bottom of my heart I am still below the sales target needed to break even so by all means please check em out Okay the reason im posting here isnt to advertise..I wanted to change my Ebay user id to something that suits what im selling. When i first started i just used my little brothers name (rahyl) and from then onwards whatever i was selling went so fast that before you know it im a power seller! Now i sell collectibles and mostly comics. I wanted to change my id to either: [email protected] (if thats allowed. Ive seen ppl use their emails as their id). OR to something like CollectorDude or CollectibleZ. (You get the idea lol).
Now if i change the id, my feedback rating stays the same right? Or does it get reset to zero?? Also have any of you guys done this and gotten better results?
I still have good customers and sales with this id but id really like to change it to something more professional sounding.
Help would be appreciated
Also I have tons of stuff on right now, including some really cool novelty phones so if you could check em out and let me know how you guys like em (a line or two about if its good to sell or not would be nice) i would be very grateful My user id is: rahyl and you can search for my auctions using my email as well: [email protected].
Thanks in advance and please let me know quick!(im sure someones up at this time, knowing how ebayers are. heheehe)

rahyl,

ebay no longer allows the use of email addys for IDs.

Since you have already established yourself with this ID(powerseller), why change now?

Seems to me your ID has served you well up to this point.

It is MU that changing you ID will not lose your feedback as long as your email addys does not change. I am a little surprised that you are so crude as to beg for sales in the chat room. To me that is not good taste.

Personally, I'm delighted that rahyl came to the boards with his auctions!

I got a KEWL CAR for $20 delivered & Boobs is gonna love it at XMAS!!

Especially during these lousey times, I feel we AW'ers should be supporting each other

So....I say: THANKS RAHYL for a GREAT DEAL!

changed my name a about 3 weeks ago, and my sales have increased (more due to the holidays). I went from rustygumbo to atomicpimp, and was worried that the name change would be too crude for some people. i've only received positive comments from buyers regarding the change. i say go for it!!!!

You changed it --TO-- AtomicPimp ????

I try to avoid buying from sellers that sound suspicious.

Anyone who's into that whole "Gansta Killa Thug" lifestyle and the associated mental image would definitely set off my "suspicious alarms," and have me skip their auction.

I would say a name like that WOULD hurt sales, and I doubt I'm the only one. It might be OK if you are selling RAP CDs, but for anything else, I'd change it.

ebay no longer allows the use of email addys for IDs.

You can't create an email address for an ID anymore. If you have one you are grandfathered and you can change your user ID from one email address to another. Simply change the email address and your user ID is changed to reflect the new email address.

Having an email address has some advantages. Buyers always have access to you without going through eBay if they wish. Your ID history only shows your current ID, it won't display any old IDs if they are email addresses.

You can change from JohnDoe to JonDoe to JohnDeer to MorrisMoose, but anyone that looks on your ID history (on the feedback page) can see all the other names you've used and when they were changed.

If you have an email ID and you change it from [email protected] to [email protected] to [email protected] anyone looking at your history ID will only see the current ID and show only the creation date as that of your original email ID.

So, if you have an email ID on eBay give it some serious thought before you change it to a non-email ID because you can never go back to an email ID, and the email ID does have advantages.

Unless they have something like "I-take-money-and-dont-deliver". I can't imagine an id that would be so bad that it would stop bids. For that matter the id could be as offensive as heck if they have good feedback.

How did you get "Gansta Killa Thug" out of AtomicPimp and how did rap music come into this? The words "pimp" and "atomic" have been around since the 1600's. I guess folks in merry olde England were having cart-by shootings and listening to gangsta monk chants.

Last time I looked, most gangsta killa thugs had names like Vinnie the Nose, Sammy the Bull and John Gotti. Does this mean you would not purchase items from someone named John or Sammy?

AtomicPimp when I read your id, for some reason, I thoght you sold vintage clothing.

I sell a lot of music.

Believe me when I say 90% of rap CDs have at least one song about "pimpin da ho's." which brings up the connection I described.

Which brings me to a different point. Sometimes different people have different outlooks- especially with International bidders.

A lot of thought should go into your username, and you have to decide if it COULD be taken as offensive. I'm sure the pimp guy didn't mean anything offensive, but it CAN be taken that way- therefore, it's not such a good name.

And I'm SURE you were aware I didn't mean REAL gangsters. Those guys don't advertise their jobs by singing about it. I mean the day-to-day variety of gansta-wanna-be's-on-da-hood.

can we all post our user id's here to drum up a little more business????

It's like trying to get a date at a funeral-you just should know better and realize it isn't the place!

Any name CAN be taken as offensive by anyone. I loathe birds, monkeys and clowns. In fact they downright offend me. That is not going to stop me from bidding on items by someone with that has a user id with any of those words in it.

I also hate the word "media". It drives me nuts. I always brings up visions of ovezealous and biased reporting. I am sure you didn't mean anything offensive when you used it in your name, but it can be taken that way. Won't stop me from bidding on your items though.

I hate biscuts and gravy. Don't eat it, don't like the looks of it. Actually gravy just makes me mad. Won't stop me from bidding on someone's items that uses those words.

My friend will not bid on items from sellers that have "cute" in their user id. She says they lack imagination.

Asked 18 college students this afternoon what was the first thing that came to mind when they heard "Atomic Pimp".

6 immediately started laughing.

2 asked if it was a mens clothing store.

2 said they thought of "That 70's show".

1 said "some lamer hacker, trying to be cool"

3 Had no idea what a pimp is. They were international students.

1 said "what the he*l?"

1 said that her grandfather was one.

1 said that his dog was one.

1 said "old men in tacky clothing"

These are college kids that listen to rap music. At least all of them said they do.

My grandmother said "Hoover was an atomic pimp". She was referring to the president. I was to scared to ask her to explain in detail.

Perceptions are a funny thing...most people rarely have the same one.
