on a newbies item just because it has no bids but deserves to get one?...just trying to help out..?
I'm not talking about shill bidding..I don't know these sellers from adam. I just see some auctions while browsing that will have a very low starting bid and no bids. These are good items and deserve a bid.
Sometimes I win the auction and that's okay because I always resell the item for more than I paid. Sometimes I actually feel guilty when I win.

I have never done that intentionally but I like the idea and who knows...winning it a reselling for a profit sounds good too.

Yes I have done that but not intentionally. When I bid and if I am the only bidder so far I will enter the amount that I will pay for that auction. If by chance it goes higher than what I have bid I don't bid again. I set my limit and use that with my first bid. I wouldn't consider that shill bidding but maybe it is drawing attention to an auction that probably wouldn't get any bids.

It's a nice idea. If I could afford it, I would but I am selling on ebay to make ends meet. Especially during this time of year.

I rarely ever bid on anything except Dolphins, which I collect. Like you Libra, I decide what the maximum I want to spend & set my bid accordingly. This is shill bidding, very legit. If I get for less than my max, HURRAY for me.

sanmar, this is NOT shill bidding. I bid the max I want to pay and when I win I pay the bid and shipping just like anybody else.
I just bid earlier on some items than I usually would.
