Good Morning Everyone! I am very happy, I just had an auction end with a "buy it now" Never use that option but I am glad I did in this case. (My sales are so low right now as I am sure everyone else's are)
Here is my query: The buyer has a feedback that says "Private" I am thinking that this is NOT a good thing! since I am the seller, how can I view it so I know if I need to be worried or not?

you have to ask his permission to view his feedback, like his password.
chances are that someone has said some bad things about him and he does not want you to read it.

I just took another look at the auction. Yes, I was able to view their feedback: member since 1999, 26 positives from unique users and 1 negative. the most recent are 3 positives and 1 negative 6 months ago. I guess I don't have to worry EXCEPT My "Buy it Now" has a price of $34.95. My EOA email from Ebay and the actual auction show a buy price of $35.95 but on the "My Ebay" page and when I do a search on closed items, it shows the price of $34.95.
What's up with this? Do I need to go into worry mode now???

trai, At first, that's what I thought too. When I look at the auction itself, the EOA email from ebay and now (being a few hours later) in a search as well as on "my ebay", it shows 35.95. So I guess they really did bid 35.95

I recently had a bidder with private feedback. They had zero negatives and almost 75 positives! They payed very quickly and were extremely pleasant.
My initial thought about private feedback is that the bidder is trying to hide something but maybe they are just trying to hide their purchases from a spouse! HeeHee!
Or perhaps they just don't want people to see what they are buying!
I suppose the bottom line is worry when there are excessive negatives, private or not!

Hi fetish...I can appreciate how you have your own style of posting, which makes your comments easily recognizable. I was just wondering...with all the whips and snaps, and alternating lower case and upper case letters, doesn't it take a long time to post comments?

Here is an Update on my auction: Here it is 4 days after the auction ends. The winner has had 4 days to "mull" over my "WIN" email and I finally got a reply.
He says that he works in the computer industry and has many computers at home. He adds that his small child has figured out how to get on ebay and bid on an auction. Of courSe you know the end of the email is that he wants to renig. I wouldn't mind so much if it were one of my lower priced auctions but it isnt. Not only that, I have wasted all of this time etc. . . . . Well, you know the rest. HUMMMMM
Does anyone out there have a good idea of what I can do at this point? I knew this "PRIVATE" FEEDBACK WAS A WARNING >>>> HEEEELLLLP !

"young kid"
No way, my old kids can't figure out how to enter a bid, young entering that number with a decimal point then enter, hey I know they are smart at games but reading what the cost is, figuring out a bid price, typeing it in, not to mention searching for it... wouldn't they be buying toys or clothes for them (or is that the item)
I say sorry, you bid don't leave the kids on the puter alone with your password stored in it! duh, let the patents learn by paying you, if that truly is the case.

Check to see what else he is bidding on or has won recently. That should tell the story. If he's lying (my bet) call him on it and NPB. You may be the one who gets him NARU for his behavior. And block him.
Too bad we can't really sic fetish128 on him. Now that would be fun.

I agree, they are just looking for a way out. I would not care if its his kid, grandma, or ET.
Bottom line is they pay you or you will file for fees, leave the npb etc.
Just in case they do pay up, make sure its by money order [postal] bidpay. Have DC on your parcel so they can not play games.
With this guy I would not trust an online payment service as I feel they would just do a chargeback with a phoney excuse.

I think it is mostly a privacy thing. If they have a lot of negs (and you can tell that even with private) then you have something to worry about, but my take is that most bad bidders (i.e. back out of lots, etc.) are too stupid to know how to make feedback private.

Looks like they have bid on a number of items (under 10 in total: toys and household items in the last 30 days but only won mine. I think I will carefully construct an email stating the facts and the dilema he has put me in, the charges involved etc. Then offer to accept his payment or to file for a FVF etc and point him to ebay's rules. ALL suggestions and Help here is greatly appreciated, believe me.
I am so glad you are all here to bounce ideas off of. Thanks for being there.

You're on the right track. Give him a time limit to get back to you. Since it's the holiday cut him slack for 48 hours. No computer geek could live without e-mail that long. If he doesn't reply or still says mistake, just FVF and move on. Then block him and his e-mails.

Here is the status of "Private". He offered to pay my fees. I agreed to it as long as I received it within 10 days of the sent email. Well, WAY OVER 14 days since the last email and almost 30 days since the auction closed. Still no payment.
I guess we know why the feedback is private!
