Just wanted to vent, I've had three poor feedbacks this week, one negative and two neutrals (thank God I keep a different account from my ebay sales)

1) Leaves neutral because case was damaged. I noted this information in the description, and priced accordingly. Hello??

2) Leaves neutral because of slow shipping. It's been a whole six days, and they made the decision to pay for media mail, which says it can take 8 business days (and from past experience it takes more)

3) Leaves negative because it was slow to arrive. Buyer also told me that they ordered two copies of this book the same day, so because mine came last, they want a refund? I would not give the refund.

Well, at least they all got negs back from me, and it was their first each. That felt a little better. I don't mind taking a neutral if it is my fault - for example, one person recently paid for expedited shipping, and I missed it. I am refunding them the difference in shipping, and if they give me a neutral or a negative I won't be happy, but I certainly would not give them anything but good feedback as it was MY screwup. These three are not my fault, but I get the bad feedback (and they get it back too)

I understand completely. I have also recently gotten a few negative feedbacks from halfers. I think part of the problem is that half.com doesn't make communication between buyer and seller an easy process so most buyer don't bother.

Media mail takes about 3 weeks from Alaska and it is within half.com shipping guidelines. When buyers email the "where's my book question" they are very understanding when they find out how far it has to travel. I do offer Priority shipping as an option.

All of these negative feedbacks were from buyers who did not bother to communicate and negged me for slow shipment. I calmly reply in my feedback that I shipped on time, buyer choice Media Shipping. In my return negative on their feedback I say something about them having poor communication and giving unfair negatives. These are usually newbies so my negative hurts them more then the one they're giving me....it's still VERY frustrating.

I've taken to putting DC on all of my media mail and email my halfers the day I ship with the delivery confirmation number. I'm hoping to avoid any further impatience on the part of my buyer.

Like any of us can control how fast the post office moves. I would also find this frustrating when they take this out on you because they are too cheap to spring for a faster shipping method.

I've made up a package slip to go with every book I sell on half.com. Thanks them, blah blah blah, warns them that, if they've chosen media mail shipping, it's notoriously slow and can take up to 4 weeks. Followed by some more gracious words. And I write on the outside of the package: "Half.com order sent _____ (date).

I have no negatives, only one neutral from a half.com buyer actually mad at the p.o.!!!. Since beginning the above, though, no complaints whatsoever, and some very nice +feedbacks.

I've implored Half.com to instruct buyers that they're only giving feedback on the seller's behavior and product, NEVER the post office's! Nada, so far.

Edited to add: There are so many half.com buyers who've never been part of ebay's feedback system. I strongly suspect that when some of them get their own first neutrals or negatives, they'll know how it hurts and may pay more attention to what they're doing.

I hope so, that is why I respond with a negative (even if it a neutral that is given to me) if the complaint is totally out of my control, like the post office taking 2 weeks to ship an item media mail, when that is all they paid for. If I waited 2 weeks to ship, then they have a legitimate complaint. If I made a mistake and shipped the wrong item, then they have a legitimate complaint. It just seems that lately I've been dinged with complaints that are not in my control. Hopefully they won't like the neg (one did not, they were really unhappy about it) but I wrote back and told them why I did it, and told them they should think twice about leaving poor feedback to a seller about an issue that was out of their control.

I'm still not sure why a BUYER cares if they get a neg (as long as it is a buying account) but as long as they do, maybe they will learn when it is appropriate to leave poor feedback.
