As usual, I turn to the folks on AW who truly seem to "know it all"! Send out a bunch of "end-of-auction" notices last night. Now, I'm receiving e-mail from "msn.com" that a several messages are "undeliverable" and that the messages "failed." The only problem is that these were to addresses I never sent messages to! I'm pretty much of a technological idiot...Does anyone know what could be going on? Thanks for any insights.

It is a virus - I was getting a lot of them last week from several different ISP's/email addresses. If I'm not mistaken, it's the Klez virus. I have Norton Internet Security which immediately deleted them upon detecting the virus.
By the way - and not meaning to derail the thread - but it's nice to see yall! I have been reading AW for quite a while, and learn a lot here. Get a lot of laughs too ...but you seem like a great group

Thanks all...I KNEW I'd find out good info! Those nasty messages are all now deleted. I have Norton too but guess they slipped by. Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving!

Got a couple returned messages I never sent awhile back with No attachment. Was told on this forum that it was a Trojan - I was in some one's address book and the messages were sent out in my name to individuals of some sort of sex site message center.

blueeys: Is your Norton A/V uptodate?? There are new variations coming out all of the time & if your A/V is not up todate, they will slip through. My love is a medical transcriptionist for a large orthopedic group. Someone downloaded a Klez in the the server & corrupted their files. It has taken weeks & many $$ to get everything cleaned up. They hadn't kept their A/V up to date.

My Norton program was up for renewal recently. Up til now, I had Norton Internet Security 2001 (I think). I use Outlook Express; and when it would scan my mail, I would get a message box about the infected mail.
With my renewal up, I upgraded to Norton Internet Security 2003, and it has advanced features - one being that when it finds an infected email, it automatically deletes it - no message box. The email is still in my in box; however, the attachment(s) has/have been removed and replaced with a Norton message.
Hope this helps
