Hi all, first of all Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, I have been away awhile due to illness but I am slowly making my way back, been checking in with Action Watch from time to time and of course back with a question.
I purchased this at a garage sale the people were insisting the soldiers are made of ivory, they are not, they are handpainted celluloid which is seamed, and the paint is rubbing off. This is a version of a game I can not for the life of me remember the name of the game but it starts off with 1 hole in the center and you keep jumping the spaces till you find an empty space to rest your piece, the one remeaing piece is the winner. quite a few restaurants have a version of this on the table while you are waiting for your order. I have not seen this with figural pieces, only with pegs, and I am not quite sure what category or categories to place this in. This is a marching band and each marcher is carrying a different instrument in his hand.

Haven't seen that version with the soldiers before, but I think that's an early "Hi-Q" game.

You have to put in this slash at the end.

Then you will be ok.

These are not soldiers, but a marching band.

It looks a little like the Stanford marching band that went on the football field at the end of a game one year while the final play was going on!

I have never seen the game using figures before. If this were a specific band that could be identified, this would be worth some bucks! Probably worth quite a few the way it is.

The Hi-Q game was a common type of board game format for a long time. Earlier versions had names like 'Peg Solitaire'. This appears to be a very unusual version of those games with a unique theme of band members instead of the standard pegs.

This item may do very well on ebay as there might not have been many of these produced. Place as many photos as possible in the auction and describe it as completely as possible and do not use a Buy It Now price. I'd suggest a 10 day auction duration to get as many potential bidders as possible. Good luck on the nice garage sale find.

Great Item, we called it 'peg board' game,
I would get as many names of what others called the game and list them all in the auction to get it in the searches.

good luck and let us know how it turns out.
edit to say "welcome back" glad your better and pass the latte please!

Here is a goofy thought considering you have the peg board,
but they kinda look like theme cake decorating toppers for a BIG CAKE ~~LOL

Hi, hope everyone had an enjoyable day yesterday and it continues through the holiday season. Thanks for all the good wishes and help, I think I followed the best I could with the information given to me. I started it out for $15.50 I think that is fair, as suggested I made it a 10 day auction ending on a sunday evening. I am including the auction, I hope I get this one right, thanks to Trai rescuing me on the pix, this time I will remember the /. Do you think the HK on the bottom of the pieces might mean Hong Kong?

Latte: I have one suggestion for you. This is what I'd do if it were my auction. I'd add a photo, closeup, of perhaps 3 or 4 representative band members, as close up as possible. Good luck!
