I've gotten more interested lately in having the BidPay banner in my auctions. BidPay has three banners they say are "ebay approved." One has the words "credit card" on it, the others don't. I'm at a loss to know which one is the most effective AND why did you choose that particular one? Aren't all of BidPay's transactions done with a credit card? Do those words scare off potential payers???

I think you be reading too much into it

By eBay approved, BP is talking about the pixel dimensions (88X33).

Since CCards are the only way to use BP, it's just blather to say SOMETHING

Just remember this caveat: if you are PayPal preferred, don't put a BP link in your auctions! ME page IS fine

Hey, Tomwiii--Please tell me what you mean about the PayPal banner vs. BidPay. I don't have the PayPal button on my auctions but do accept it for international sales only (hate it otherwise). But why would there be a problem having both???

If you don't know what I'm talking about, then...NO problem!!

However, if you use the debit card & you want CASH BACK, then.......

How do I become "PayPal Preferred"?

To become PayPal Preferred and get 1.5% cashback on all of your debit card purchases:
Sell on eBay

Enroll in the PayPal Preferred program by clicking the "PayPal Preferred" link in the "Enhance Account" box on your Account Overview page. Enrollment will include registering your eBay User ID and Password.

Advertise PayPal as the only online payment service on your eBay listings. You can still accept checks and money orders, and you can even mention other online payment services in your end-of-auction email to buyers, but to be eligible for PayPal Preferred, you need to advertise PayPal exclusively on your actual auction listing.
After you have enrolled, you will receive 1.5% cashback on all purchases where you do not use a PIN (restaurants, department stores, online, etc). Most merchants will let you use your ATM/Debit Card without entering your PIN - just choose Credit instead of Debit when given the choice.

Roadsmith,
If you put the Bidpay banner in your auctions, you don't even need to mention Paypal to your international customers. Bidpay is by far better and more secure(especially for the seller) than Paypal. Also, you would be surprised at how many domestic buyers will use it once that banner shows up on your auctions.

It seems to me that most of my international bidders have wanted to use PayPal, which I've accepted (no banner on my auctions, though!).

Is it easy to get that BidPay banner into my auctions? Is it just a matter of copying and pasting the html into my seller preferences or such? I'm ready to do it - especially this season, when money is tight for collectibles.

Just log on to www.bidpay.com and register as a seller. You can then go to the banner page and have them insert it into each of your auctions automatically, or you can cut and paste the html into your auctions. I did the latter. I put it into my defauld text box at AW. It's easy to do. The big advantage to using Bidpay over Paypal, is that you don't have to worry about a chargeback down the road from a scammer. Once Bidpay issues the approval, they assume the risk. You'll sleep better and won't pay a penny in fees.

Thanks, sparkz. I'm going to do it. ~Adele

Edited to add: I did it! And you were right--it was easy. Took about 5 minutes. Hardest part was deciding *exactly* where in that text box I wanted it. I appreciate your help.
