I would like to include this paragraph in my auctions, to get people on my mailing list. Does anyone know of any rules that it goes against, or is it okay? Thanks!

Instead of putting it in your auctions, put it in your EOA notices. eBay won't allow it on your auction page.

Do you know the exact rule that states it? What if I just want to add them to my mailing list? Is it because I'm kind of offering an item for sale off of eBay? What if I put it on my about me page with a "click here" for information on how to sell on eBay in my auctions, leading to my about me page? I'm basically trying to utilyze the traffice of people that come to my auctions, so just sending it to the winning bidder would kind of defeat the purpose.

Well, if you are adding a link to an email address or external web page, that is definitely against the rules.

Here it is

Links Policy

Summary: The eBay item page can only be used to describe, promote and facilitate the sale of the listed eBay item - it cannot refer to or promote the seller's individual web site, off eBay sales or other businesses. The eBay About Me page is a place where the seller can promote their individual web site or business

So then I could definantly say something like, "click here to learn how to get inside secrets on how to sell children's clothes" and the link would lead to my about me page, which would have the link to my email for the mailing list. That sounds totally legal according to the links rules.

I believe you are not allowed to have any links on your ebay auction page - If you try it, prepare for all of your auctions to be terminated. It doesn't sound legal to me...

Make 300% Profit in 3 Days!"
Not sure that I would use the word "make" In your "ad".
I would go with "could, may". This covers your butt just in case.
One has to think like a boston lawyer these days.

eBay might look at it as misuse of there site by advertising something for sale without actually listing it. This would be fee avoidance. Yes delete the word make use up to. Persons who made less than 300% could sue in civil court for the difference. suppose they only made 10% profit, you might have pay the other 290% or in some states double or even triple damages. Have an attorney read your document before selling it.

What if I just want to add them to my mailing list?

If I was one of your winners, you would find yourself turned in for SPAM.

The EOA notice is the safest and best place, but hey if you're a gambler...
