Curious to know if anyone has ever emailed former buyers to new auctions in the same category?? I just sold 10 items to 7 bidders, all in the same area of interest. I am putting on another 14 starting on 12/26. Is it proper to alert these buyers to my new auctions? These are not rare items but are popular collectibles.

That would be considered spam, but I always make mention of my new items when I send them an email to let them know I've received payment, or that I'm shipping. I suppose you might get away with inquiring if the item had arrived....and then alert them to your new auctions.

This is Ok as once a person becomes a buyer, according to the law, your e-mails are no longer unsolicited. However, if any of the former customers tells you they would not like an e-mail about your auctions, then it is spam.

On a personal note, I wouldn't e-mail these customers on every new auction you list, but make it like a monthly newsletter or something like that. Otherwise it could backfire and make these customers mad or seem like harrasment.

What I had in my mind was, to tell each buyer a thank you for bidding & to tell them of my new auctions. Just to let them know of the new items I am going to auction

Sanmar: I've done this several times, no bad repercussions. Also, I've been selling a series of 70 issues of a collectible magazine, and with each new buyer I've included a sentence about my upcoming auctions and to watch for my auctions. Sometimes I ask a buyer if he'd like for me to let him know when the same items or category of items appear on my selling list, and I've gotten good responses. In that case, it can't be spam because he's asked me to notify him.
