I have NEVER had a bad sale so this is really biting me in the butt! I had a EBay sale in Nov. The customer wasn't happy and I told them right away that I would refund the $$ w/ their okay. I knew there would be trouble because they canceled their EBay account the same day my sale was final. Never heard a response until last week when I get an email from Paypal stating the customer is filing a dispute claim. I had to respond to the claim by Jan. 2nd at 4:30 pm. I was a few hours late responding due to being out of town for the holidays. I should have just said okay and refunded the $$ but now it's the principal of the thing. The customer didn't come to me after I said I would refund but instead goes through Paypal to raise issues. I am STILL waiting on the final outcome of the claim. How long does it take for Paypal to decide on these matters? I don't want my bank account or credit card account to be held up in anyway because of this $40 problem. Anyone have this problem and how did it work out?

Go to this part of the discussion board and ask your question in there. This is a PayPal thread and maybe Damon will come in and help you. Good Luck

paypal does not get involved in quality/content disputes.
if he has not returned the item and you can prove you have shipped with online tracking confirmation, you are protected by paypal seller program.
he should return the item first before he files chargeback.
emails sometimes get deleted by recipient,we all get so much junk mail every day.

I guess eBay has given up on this discussion board. If Damon or anyother representative doesn't come here I think that is a crime. I suppose it is how much clout that you have and eBay must not think we have much...I have visited other boards and find this one is the most helpful. Other boards are stupid in that they talk about weather, what they did and they don't stick to discussions.

The reason damon stopped coming over to this board was that it always turned into a paypal bashing. Some of it got pretty ugly towards damon.
People seem to forget that he was only a spokesman for paypal and not the guy who writes paypal policy. In other words he was just a juicy target for a lot of pent up anger.

Damon still works for paypal and he still responds quickly to polite email messages sent to him. Whatever you want to say about Paypal as a company (and I have contributed my share), don't attack Damon personally. He is one of the few employees who actually tried to help. I consider him Paypal's entire customer service department. His efforts were thwarted by the antagonistic tone and personal attacks as well as the fact that as a Paypal employee, he had to put company spin on every situation and sometimes that just wasn't possible.

yisgood I agree with you. Many of the PayPal disputes are because the buyer or seller didn't do what they were supposed to do and then they come in here and give us a song and dance. If you treat someone with respect they will respect you. I don't ever go down to the PayPal board as I have had no problems and if I did I would not come into a board and bash them. I am sure Damon helped a lot of people but he can't do it by himself as he is PayPal Damon not Damon PayPal.
