I just tried making a credit card payment through Paypal, but credit cards aren't listed as option for me anymore even though I have cc info entered - only options showing are to use my balance or pay be eCheck.

Can anyone help me out with why that is? Thanks.

if you have money in your account, they want you to use that first, but there should be an option which said other payment options, unless your cc is no good or deleted

Credit card is good so that's not the issue. My wife's account is the same - there is an option for other payments that displays, but only payment options that come up are transfer or eCheck.

Has anyone else seen this?

I'm starting to see this in the technology area. You bid on an item with a PayPal emblem, but when you go to pay, you find that the seller does not accept credit card payments, only PayPal balance or eCheck.

Had another one last week. Wrote to him and told him that I thought it was false advertising, that I never would have bid on his item if I hadn't thought I could pay with Credit Card and that I was no longer interested in his item. He wrote back that he had changed his profile to accept credit cards so I immediately paid to complete the sale.

Mind you, I can appreciate their concern over PayPals lack of seller protection when it comes to credit card sales, but if only going to accept some forms of PayPal payments, it seems to me you should say that in your auction description (and yes, I have seen it in auction descriptions - didn't bid on the item, but appreciated the notification).

I wanted to do a credit card instead of bank debit during Christmas season because I won something I really wanted for a gift but was a bit leery of the seller. I had emptied my PayPal account of all but a few $$ so I didn't expect a problem. Much to my surprise it only let me charge part of the purchase and the rest came from the balance. Believe me I tried every way I could think of including making the credit card the primary source. No dice.

If anyone knows how to let some purchases be paid with a CC and some with bank accounts, I'd be really grateful.

Anytime you have Paypal balance, any payments must come out of it. I don't know why but it is irritating when you want the protection of your CC.

You can send all the money in the paypal account to an email address not registered with paypal(one of your own preferably) then the account should show a balance of $0. Then you should be able to pay with the credit card. After you finish then just cancel the unclaimed payment and the money is back.
This should work unless they changed something recently. (it also worked to get an instant transfer into the paypal acount from a bank account for using the debit card)
