Received this email from a buyer at 6:45 tonight.

Hi, I received the sweater. Unfortunately, my husband already has the exact same sweater. Your description stated that this was a brown toned sweater but to me it is more of a purplish.

Below I have put the auction url on and I would like you sellers and buyers tell me what color you think this sweater is. I took the picture myself, in fact the sweater was so nice I was going to keep it for myself but instead I sold it. Don't you think if she saw this sweater and it's pattern that she knew her husband already had it. Now, my question is if she sends it back to me how do I know she sent the same sweater as I sent. If I refund do I do it before she sends the sweater or after I inspect it. She used PayPal but I am not worring about that because I have no money in there until the auctions go off tonight and then there will be enough in there to refund her. I can tell her that I have an identifying mark to show me that the sweater is the one I sold her and I should have done that as it would have been easy with a sweater. Now what are the chances that someone has an identical tundra sweater like that. Did they make duplicates or are they one of a kind? Does anyone know that answer? Well enough questions for now. I have asked her to return my call but I bet she won't. She has had the sweater for about a week and I wonder why she didn't write sooner. I will ask her that also when she calls. Thanking you all in advance.

I wouldn't refund anything until I received the sweater back. I'm not sure what she is up to, but she would have to know her husband had one like it, if in fact, he did.

I never refuse a refund if item is returned (at seller's expense if nothing wrong on my end description wise) but not until it is received and I have inspected it carefully.

I would refund the sweater - AFTER it was returned to me in the same condition it arrived to her in. I would not return her any shipping fees at all. She is the one who messed up. Too bad you don't have a restock fee listed in your TOS - would be nice to hit her with one of those too!!

When I look at your pic - I do see some purplish color in it. All monitors display colors differently - but try explaining that to a buyer.

Personally I think she just is having second thoughts - it is a very expensive sweater.

Yup, the buyer is probably just trying to weasel out of the $90 sweater by saying the color was not described accurately. That's a very weak excuse as she saw the photos before she bought the sweater.

I'll agree with the other posters on the refund process though. She should have to pay the FVF's too.

I bet her husband won't wear the sweater and she surprised him with it.

I can't give you an answer on the color without seeing the sweater "in the flesh" under daytime lighting.

Many factors affect color; a lot of digital cameras don't reproduce colors faithfully, for instance. And the compact fluorescent bulbs my partner is so fond of (I hate them) makes burgundy fabrics look purple.

I viewed your auction on my Apple 17 inch flat screen monitor, which has excellent color rendition. I saw blue and red tones in the "brown" parts of the sweater. Her monitor is probably not that good.

It looks brownish to me. Sounds like she
is having second thoughts, but not for the
reason she stated... Good luck!

On my monitor I saw no "purplish" - just brown tones...and I have a pretty decent monitor

I agree totally with tooltimes on this - what a surprise I bet it was to her that he didn't like it

edited to add - I don't know about Tundra sweaters being "one-of-a-kind", but I do know that there are lots of knock-offs out there - I live in a resort town, and Tundra look-alikes are plentiful at "outlet" stores.

It looks like a brown toned sweater to me but I do see other colors as well, particularly in the bottom picture I do see lavenders.

If the issue is only the color then I don't see any reason to refund. Doesn't make any sense to me as the pics pretty much say it all. There are enough shades of color in the pics that you get the idea that it is mainly brown tones with some contrasting colors.

Do what feels right for you, but I wouldn't pay for return shipping if you decide to take it back. I'm guessing her hubby didn't like it or it didn't look good on him.

No, I would not refund. She outbid 20 others. The sweater is hers. If she's not happy, let her resell it. Purple, brown? You gotta be kidding!

I notice you slipped in a couple of keywords:

This sweater in on the order of the Coogi from Australia. Any questions please email me before bidding. While your here check my other auction for another canadian sweater Tosani.

Tsk, tsk!

Upon further investigation I see she bid and won another Tundra Sweater in November for less money, but not the same color. I was totally surprised when the sweater went for that amount but what do I know. She has had the sweater since the morning of the 9th and waited until Sunday the 12th at 6:45 to write me. I sent her an email just a couple of minutes ago and this is what I said.

There is no need to call me. If you want to return the sweater that is fine with me, but before I refund your money I have to make sure that that is the same sweater I sent to you. I don't feel I miss represented the description so you will have to pay for the return postage by priority mail with delivery confirmation and insurance for $90.00. If upon inspection at that time and it is the sweater I sent you I will refund your money if not, I will send the sweater back with the same postage and insurance. I hope this is satisfactory with you. Please keep me informed as to what you want to do.

Now what I want to know is isn't there a place to file for fees if the seller and buyer mutually agree on backing out of the auction?

I have a high end monitor. The sweater looks brownish to me. The buyer's story makes no sense. In fact, if I found duplicates of my husband's favorite sweaters on eBay he would be quite happy. The point is wives know exactly what is in their husband's wardrobe, including the sweaters. The buyer isn't telling you the truth.

Keep in mind that if you take the sweater back, that you sold the sweater at the height of sweater buying time on eBay. If you relist, you may not get as good of a price.

It sure is a nice sweater.

You caught me twinsoft. I sold the Tosani and I have sold 3 coogi's so I thought it would be okay to mention that

I think that maybe she will think twice about returning the sweater when she reads my email. At least I hope she does. She has to trust me because if she sends it back no money will transfer until I see it. So for a while she is without a sweater and $90.00. I am honest and if it is my sweater I will send her the money. She will immediately go on my blocked list.

The sweater is really beautiful and my son-in-law looked really good in it so maybe instead of the hassel I will just give it to him.

You know I sell men's ties also and I have never had problems selling those and the colors in ties are hard to duplicate.

Thanks all

It looks a little purplish on my monitor but I have a used 17" monitor that cost $30 and I wouldn't trust the color.

I see you have milwaukee for the region. Do you get a lot of buyers wanting to pickup the item in milwaukee? I was starting to get one at least every other week and milwaukee is 80 miles away so I removed it. They don't understand that it is only the ebay region. I was just trying to figure out if it does any good.

I haven't sold only 3 items to Milwaukee and mailed two and the other picked it up on I94 and Hwy 50 at McDonalds and she was the nicest person. I don't offer pickup and I don't imagine you do either but if it doesn't inconvenience me it's okay, just not to my house.

Libra...Your auction ran from the 19th to the 29th. Is it possible some eggnog might have accidentally gotten into her computer around the time she was bidding and have caused the colors to change?

Look at the things she is bidding on! I have to laugh! Fungal cream! Coupons for Dove soap! 1 pound of face cream! Face Mask! and Lots of shoes! I guess I am tired and getting a little goofy. I just can't stop laughing. (Sorry) I just have never really looked at someone's bidding like this before. Either she's a flake, compulsive bidder or doesn't drive or get out much

Sorry Libra, but I come up with tan & a lavender shade mixed in. Neverthe less there is browntone in the photo. I have a nearly new 17" Gateway that gives really good definition. I agree with you on your decision re: refund. I really think she is weaseling on this.

Have a 19" VIEWsonic PerfectFlat A95f and, although I do see some brown in there, there sure is a whole bunch of Barney too!

I have a ViewSonic A90 19" and also a Dell Trinitron 21" Flatscreen and I looked on both and see lots of brown but also quite a bit of purplish color. BTW, it is a beautiful sweater. Buyer's remorse I think.

Let me see if I have this straight - her complaint is that the sweater once received was more purplish than she expected? I see purple tones in all of the scans but predominant color is brown tone..she cant expect you to mention every color in your description and it's not your fault that her monitor isn't true color! But why not offer second chance to the next highest bidder..he/she was willing to spend $89 for the sweater and may be thrilled to know that it is still available!

who cares what color the sweater is? It's gorgeous, and I wish I had the money to blow on it.
If she had bought it at a department store, she could bring it back after a week and say she wanted to return it... but the store would have the ability to inspect it first. Do you think she'll understand that ardument?

I see a purplish color in the sweater and my wife would never give me this type of sweater she know I would not wear it.

okay Lucky, are you my hubby in disguise? I bought him one almost identical to this last year and it is still in the drawer waiting to be worn.

now if it was plaid flannel, it would have the bejesus worn out of it.

Since you didn't mention any colors in the description, she should have asked questions before bidding!

Another point is that if her hubby has the same sweater, wouldn't she know it? It is such a unique design that you have have to at least be reminded of it when you see the photo!

I think it's just buyers remorse!

Actually, I think you should have mentioned the colors of the sweater. Other clothing sellers do; there's just too much variance in lighting, cameras, monitors, etc.

The time to question is BEFORE bidding. This is remorse.

Get the sweater back (in the same condition) and refund her the final bid amount.

Maybe her husband's sweater is purple and he refuses to wear it. So she got him the brown one and wants to pull a switcheroo.

Update - New email tonight.

I am so sorry for the inconvenience. My husband is currently out-of-town and will return on Thursday. He says he may want to keep it. Is it possible for me to give you a decision then?

What can I say. I should have given her 3 days when I wrote that last email but I screwed up and didn't. I answered this one yes you can but I want to hear from you Thursday or Friday at the latest.

It's no wonder that the TOS's are getting bigger and bigger.
