I won an auction on January 8th the seller sends me payment info on January 10th. I drop payment in the mail on the 11th. Today, I get a "Payment Reminder" from ebay.

He accepts paypal, money orders and checks. It is a small amount, so I send a money order to save hime some paypal fees.

I am feeling piss*y about the payment reminder. Am I wrong in thinking this is pushy and kind of rude?

Don't get too upset, this is an automatic reminder sent on the 3rd day after close of auction. Have you emailed the seller that payment has been sent? If so, don't worry.

The seller has to go to "my ebay" and click on the "payment reminder button". There is nothing automatic about it.

I was grumbling about the same thing a few days ago! Auction won on Saturday night, went through bidpay on Sunday! I emailed seller (along with bidpay) to notify of payment. Then comes the payment reminder after three days!

Don't these new sellers know that mail takes a few days to get to them, especially when they only accept mail payments?

Duh!

grumpyebayer: Did you email the seller to let them know you were mailing payment??

I have had buyers not respond to my end of auction email. It is a mess because the seller does not know if the buyer has been contacted. Emails can get lost and deleted by span filters with out notice being sent to the seller. So unless the buyer emails the seller to let them know how payment is to be made, sellers do not know if their notice is getting through.

I emailed when I got her mailing address and after I sent the payment.

I know she got them, because I got a read receipt from her server.

Ebay supplies the means to send reminder after 3 days.
Going by your name you've been grumpy for a long time before today.

Yep. And everytime I think it is time to change my handle, something like this happens.

The seller is out of line. eBay's letter is threatening to the buyer, and a week is not a reasonable amount of time to expect payment. eBay's own guidelines state that a personal email should be sent before the NPB Alert.

is it possible this person has so many sales running that they have "gotten lost" in their emails? It is not like they sent the police to your door. If you have already corresponded with them and know they received it, just delete the email..

it is nothing personal, just a seller trying to take care of business.

He had 2 auctions running in the past 2 weeks. Feedback of 16.

I wish he had sent the police to my door, maybe they could do something about my neighbor's bad taste.

He sent me another reminder about 20 minutes ago.

I think I will email him everyday and ask "where is my package?"

Twinsoft:

Grumpyebayer said they sent a payment reminder not an NPB alert. They are two different things.

aww...now I see...this person is a newbie seller...kind of like a mother with her first baby...she drives the doctor crazy everytime the baby blinks

this seller is so scared he/she is not going to get paid that she will drive you crazy...just reply to all of them with a blank email and request a receipt with each one...they will really lose it then...they will think you are sending them a virus.

Just noticed on "My eBay" page (when logged in), there is now a button on the section "Items I Sold" stating Payment Reminder. So the seller may not be using AW's payment reminder.

yes, the ebay payment reminder is available after the third day following the sale...it is just another note from ebay asking you to contact the seller, very general, nothing even close to threatening.
