surfing last nite and came across something interesting.
it is from a fired aol worker who claimed that as a programmer he and 2 others were let go ,they were programming version 4 which is capable of going into a memeber pc and read and upload what ever it is on the hard drive .
now i know aol will sometimes placed fixes and patches on our hard drive, but it has never dawn on me it can alos copy and upload whatever it wishes.kind of like ebay grabbing item pictures we stored on our pc.
now i have nothing worthwhile for aol to upload, but just think if i were an espionage spy from a competitor, would i be exposed to aol if it wants to know what i am trying to decipher??
comments please??

AOL is on version 8 presently. I don't doubt that companies try to sneak a peak at you to get as much info as possible, but that story IS an urban legend...they would do it on purpose, not as a revenge of some wronged employee...

I don't care what version it is or was. It would be as illegal as H@#L for any ISP to try this. Can you imagine what would have happen to AOL if this were true? I think this is truly BS.

okay, the site i found is rather obscure,so this is urban legend??
of course aol is going to deny it,what do you expect, say yes, thats what we do to squash competition.

When it comes to computers, big business and government you can't be too paranoid. It may not be true, but there is no reason why it couldn't be true.
