Somehow I don't think that the swagback nag is supposed to represent one of the greatest race horses of all times. Call me kooky but I find it just a tad bit unlikely

I still say it's probably the horse in 'The Draft Horse' cartoon from 1942.

It's the poster child for the Elmer's Glue Factory.

I don't think it's Spark Plug!
All photos & statues I dug up in the search looked alike and none looked like the one in question!

I am faintly remembering the cartoon...I believe Sea Biscuit was the right name but cannot remember the cartoon...he belonged to a seedy looking little fellow with a killer cow lick hair do...but what was the cartoon name?

Hi,
There is a reference to the cartoon in an article I found from 1939. The description sounds right for your horse and the article came up in a search for Sea Biscuit/horse/cartoon.

Just cut and paste cause I am rotten at clickable links.

I found a better article, an interview with an author-

This horse may actually be Sea Biscuit. He was a red colt, with a short tail and a funny gait, evidently- one guy says he ran like a camel. He was the ugly duckling that won against the beautiful aristocrat, and during the depression he caught the imagination of the country.
There is a movie coming out in June about Sea Biscuit- starring Jeff Bridges
If you wait and list it then, you'll see some cash!
