Happy Saturday evening everyone. I guess it's Sunday morning in some parts of the world. Ok, here is my new dilema. 2nd ebay acct has been set up for awhile. (about a month or so ago. Thought I would try selling under it. Went to set it up as a seller acct. It asked for my credit card info again. No problem. but refuses to go any further until I add my checking acct info too! What's up with that????

Yes, I did click on the button at the bottom of the page signifying that I would be using a credit card and not my checking account.

HEEEEELP!

check this out! To create another seller acct I need to either provide both a Credit card and a checking account number or pay $5 to become verified. Just to sell on Ebay! IS that a rip or what?

Just my opinion...

Pony up the account # or the 5 bucks. Either you're in business or you're not.

It's been that way since about 1999. I have more than one account. I paid the 5.00 to create a second selling account. The practice of paying to be verified, or using a Credit Card verifies who you are.

This stops people from registering accounts on ebay at the local library with a Yahoo or Hotmail address under the name "John Smith".

It protects buyers and makes ebay a sounder place to do business. Anyone who can't afford 5.00, can't afford ebay. The cost of the 5.00 goes to Equfax credit agency to help cover the cost of finding out who you are.

I never had to do that and I have been a member since around that same time. Geez, you should see the info they ask. Same or more than a credit card application.

It looks like they are pushing to use your checking account or use their paydirect services instead of your own credit card. Everything defaults to that. If you don't want to go through that garbage, then you have to give them all sorts of very personal info. YUCK I don't like either one! I gave less for my business and resellers licenses!

The credit card accounts need more maintenance then the checking accounts. Cards are constatntly going out of date or over their limit, etc.

I set up a second acct. Had to pay the %5.00, but found out it was for a credit check, so it didn't get me upset.

very good ebay policy, anyone can register with other people credit card, but trying to hook up to other people's bank account, not so easy.
amzn has been doing this for eons too.
if your name is not on that bank account, you are not in the seller game.
so what is your gripe, you want a second ebay seller account and you dont want to be verified?/

Some people think that not only are you faceless when selling on eBay, you are entitled to be faceless.

Just not true when you're a seller.

Verification procedures protect all of us.

The $5.00 fee is I believe charged every year. If you divide this 5.00 fee in 52 weeks per year, it comes out to about 10 cents per week. If a person can't afford a dime a week to sell on ebay, then you can't afford to list on ebay.

The checking account policy has been in affect for at least 6 months now, if not longer. To open up, or add an additional sellers account, you must either get id verified or enter a checking account # in addition to the credit card number. It doesn't make any difference, which one is used to pay the fees. It's just a little bit more protection to guard against people opening up fraudulant sellers accounts.
