Can I not just contact the second highest bidder anymore?
I have a winner that has not answered any of my emails and I want to ask the 2nd bidder if they are still interested - can't I do that before I do the second chance thing now?
I'm getting so tried of these bidders that take 5, 6 or more days to contact me!!! Then if I send them more notices they act like I'M BEING PUSHY.
Is it legal to charge $1.00 for every email over say 3-lol. Isn't my time worth something?
Thanks

The entire Second Chance offering is offered through ebay. You should never make contact other than starting the 2nd Chance process. If the bidder does not respond to the offer then the bidder obviously doesn't want the offer. Time to relist or whatever your next move is.

There is not much one can do to get them to move any faster. Would be nice, but you just have to deal with it.

Do you have a time limit in your tos? Even if you do there is nothing carved in stone that will make some bidders respond to you any faster.

LOL, You can try to charge a buck for sending them three emails, but what makes you think that they would pay up?

Three or more emails in less then a week is way too many, this could be the cause of why they do not respond to you in a positive way.

I just send my eoa, then if no contact then I send another one after a week.
Still no contact, then I file for my fees and relist.

I'm with trai, after 5 days I send the reminder notice and a week after that I start the NPB process and relist..if you send too many emails it almost seems like spamming even thoug I understand your wanting some response from them.

I have one now that emailed me 2 days before the end of the auction asking how fast I could ship it to her...the sale ended Saturday and I haven't heard from her yet...go figure!

I have not made an offer to the second highest bidder yet so why relist. Why should ebay care if I contact the second bidde - they already have their fees.

trai

I have not sent 3 or 4 email in less than a week - just joking about charging a fee.
I sent the WBN and then after 5 days - I sent a reminder. I don't think that is over doing it. I do state in my TOS if they don't contact me in 5 days I can offer it to the next bidder. But here's my problem - if I offer it to #2 and they accept - What if winner #1 pops up and paypals the money on the 9 day (I give 10 days to pay-but want contact in 3 or 4 days). That's ok too as I can refuse the payment. But then I have to pay TWO final auction value fees.
With Second Chance, I have to file a Non-payment notice and give the winner another 10 days to jerk me around before I can offer it to the second bidder or pay double fees and I still don't know if the back up bidder is even still interested. By then he could have spent that money elsewhere. If this was a $10.00 item I would not care but we are talking over a hundred. The item was part of a group sale so a relist probably won't get the same results as the other items are now gone.

I don't have the back up bidder's email address - that's my whole problem. Bid history won't get it either. Takes you right to second chance.

lady: You are correct -- the only way ebay lets you contact other bidders now is 2nd chance. This is so you can't make a deal outside of ebay and avoid the FVF, of course!

I get positive responses to 2nd chance about half the time. Don't know why it isn't more, since my items are hard to get anywhere else.
