I recently received this e-mail. It directs you to a link that asks for a new credit card number, DRIVER'S LICENSE number, SOCIAL SECURITY number, and just about any other personal information you can think of.
I have removed the link from this posting, so that nobody goes to it and enters any info, just in case.
The link looks legit, but I did notice that the page is not a SECURE link - in other words, it doesn't begin with "https"
Has anyone else received this?

Dear Member,

PayPal is a business that serves a new and exciting market. As that market changes, our business evolves. This email is dedicated to informing users in advance of important changes to the PayPal service, its User Agreement or other policies.

PayPal, the world's #1 online payment service, is accepted on over 3 million eBay(TM) auctions and by thousands of online shops. Over 16 million people in 38 countries worldwide use PayPal.

At this time we require that you login and agree to the changes in the policies. It takes two minutes, and you'll even get $5 when you complete PayPal's bonus requirements. To learn more, or get started, visit PayPal's website at:

We hope you enjoy using PayPal!

If it doesn't begin with https://www.paypal.com then you can just dismiss it as a scam email.

It begins with, "http://www.paypal.com", even appears to come from "[email protected]", and the page looks just like a PayPal page.
The only thing missing is the "s", which made me suspicious. That's why I thought I should post it here..
Watch out for this one!

What the link looks like in email and where it goes can be two different things. Click on that this link if like, I assure you it's save, and I assure you it won't take you to PayPal.

https://www.paypal.com

The acid test is to always check your browser's URL address before you enter a password.

Wow, that is surprising. That link does not go anywhere NEAR PayPal. I have a new email from Ebay wanting me to go to an ebay site to verify my Paypal id. The header on the email says 'eBay's acquisition of PayPal'. I just don't do any of it and then if somehow I get shut down I will try to call either Ebay or PayPal to see what is up. There is so much fraud now.

I have reported the PayPal scam which originates from Romania. The eBay email I received was:

Dear Ebay Member,
Recently we attempted to authorize payment from your credit card we have on file for you, but it was declined.
For security purposes, our system automatically removes credit card information from an account when there
is a problem or the card expires.
Please resubmit the credit card, and provide us with new and complete information.
To resubmit credit card information via our secure server, click the following link,
login to your account and resubmit your information:
http://cgi3.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn

This is the quickest and easiest method of getting credit card information to us.
Using the secure server will ensure that the credit card will be placed on account within 24 hours.

I also reported this one and it originates from the U.S.

You don't even have to click on the link to check it out, and I would suggest that you don't. (Some web pages attempt to extract info like email addresses to sell to spammers or install "web bugs" that track your surfing.)

To see where a link takes you, RIGHT-click on it and you'll get a drop-down menu. The last item on that menu should be "properties," and when you mouse down to properties and and then left-click a gray box should pop up giving you the URL of the page to which the link connects. (At least, that's the way it works in IE.) If you can't pull up a "properties" box, I would be very, very wary of visiting the page.
