There is a time limit to how many days we have to leave feedback, correct? I bid on an auction that started on November 20, 2002 and ended on November 27,2002. Which day is the last day I can leave negative feedback?

This seller deserves negative feedback. The only thing I did wrong was I should have filed the Paypal Buyer Complaint Form, because I had paid with an instant bank transfer rather than a credit card, so I don't have the remedy of a charge back. But I let the 30 days go by without filing the buyer complaint. Next time I will not make the same mistake; I will file the Paypal complaint even if there is a postal insurance claim in process.

The item arrived damaged due to poor packaging. It was a piece of antique porcelain, wrapped once with bubble wrap, put in a number seven Priority Mail box, and filled half way with some crumpled newspaper. The other half of the box was empty space, so the item banged up against the sides of the box during transit, chipping the ends and sides badly.

The seller did not refund, forced me to go through the postal insurance process, but the post office denied the claim due to poor packaging. Then the seller had the audacity to have me mail the item back, costing me another $8.55, and of course I see no refund from the seller.

So I want to leave a negative feedback, but I don't want retaliatory negative feedback since I did nothing wrong. The seller took advantage of me, pure and simple.

Hotcupoftea is not my eBay id.

Post the negative feedback immediately. Do not worry about a retaliatory neg. Anyone that looks at your feedback will see the truth. I have received 17 negatives over 5 years and all but one were retaliatory. Most bidders never check feedback

Why worry about a neg? If you have a good ratio, then it really doesn't matter. If you are worried about a neg, then wait until the 89th day & ZAP'em.

There is no set time for when auctions drop out of the database. With a quick check I can bring up some that go back to Nov. 04 so that is past the 90 day timeframe.

Leave a negative to warn other sellers. I had to do this when I received damaged items and I received two retaliatory negs in return. I hadn't done anything wrong either.

This is why I use a separate ID for buying. When things go bad it doesn't affect my main selling ID.

Although it is too late to file through PayPal, you can still file a Fraud Alert with eBay (30-60 day timeframe).
This will give the seller 30 days afterwhich you can file for a fraud protection refund.

No, I missed the dates for the Fraud thing too.

Thank goodness I buy using bidding ids.

The lesson learned here people, is that sellers will draw out the insurance refund process, delaying your ability to file for refunds elsewhere, making you miss the deadlines. My advice, be aware of the dates for each program, and file even if the insurance is in process.

Here is my last email to the seller, followed by her response:

Hi XXXX,

I sent the antique porcelain back to you yesterday. The tracking number is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I had to add some more packaging material to the contents of the box, as the lid caved in on top without more material inside. The cost to ship back to you was $8.55, and I need to be reimbursed for that amount also, since none of this situation is my fault. I purchased in good faith, not expecting poor packaging, damaged contents, and a post office denying the insurance refund. In fact, this whole process has taken up my time, which is valuable. The best way you should have handled it was to have refunded me, had the insurance refund go to you, then when it was denied at least I had my refund. Me, the customer, had to pay for your mistakes. I feel cheated, like you took complete advantage of my good nature, like you walked all over me, tramped me into the ground. It is not a nice feeling.

Her response:

I recent your ignorant email No I'm not returning the ship back you don't know how to pack so thats my fault also, I think your really unreasonable about the whole situation i contacted ebay I really don't have to refund you at all. I was trying to be descent about the whole thing. So don't send me any more of your nasty emails. Your taking up a lot of my time also.

++++++++++++++

Well I could not wait for the 90 days and I left her a negative today.

When this kind of thing happens, all I can do is learn from the experience, try not to make the same mistakes in the future. What I have is that I live my life honestly and ethically, and because I do so, my life is rich and full. What this seller has is knowing she is a thief, and is a person who makes moral choices every day which probably gives her a life of discomfort and pain.

Most of us get cheated on eBay eventually. It is a nasty feeling, knowing that someone walked over us, took advantage of us. Well it won't happen to me again this way.

And sellers, when you get buyers protesting going through the insurance refund process with the post office, perhaps they had an experience like this, which is why they are relunctant to do it again.
