This has probably been posted here before, but a reminder never hurts:
I use hotmail and just received an e-mail from "[email protected]" with subject header "Account Verification with eBay", this asks you to sign in on their form, with the line: "eBay members, please sign in to verify the informations that you have with eBay" <> Note on the REAL eBay site form, the line actually reads: "If you'd like to return to eBay, sign in", and also note the improper English usage "to verify the informations".
The form is an attempt to mimic the look of the actual eBay site log-in form.
This is a bogus scam e-mail that is trying to harvest your password.
NEVER use any kind of form like this that you receive by e-mail. NEVER NEVER NEVER!!!

Any time you receive an email from Ebay that includes a link to any portion of their site that requests a password, it will be a scam. Forward the email to [email protected] Ebay will respond to acknowledge the receipt of the message and also to confirm that it was a fake email. This appears to be an area they are devoting resources to try to stop.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

This is always a good reminder because some days we are working with our minds closed. I can speak from experience.

I just received one of these emails as well and I reported it to ebay with full headers and they are investigating. I did some of my own investigating using the info in the header and looks like the one I got came from Mexico. I had heard of these emails but had not received one until now and I've been on ebay since November 1998. I ship only within the USA and back in mid-August of last year, someone from Mexico wanted one of my items and wanted a shipping quote to somewhere in Florida. He never did bid on the item and it was sold to someone else. I wonder if that person had anything to do with this email. Maybe, maybe not. Hopefully the person that is responsible is caught.
