Would not hurt to be sure the tapes work well.[ View a few out of the batch] If you take CC via P.P. there is no such thing as "as is".
would you suggest I offer a money-back guarantee?
Good lord, no! Whats to stop someone from doing a copy and then feeding you a line of B.S.?
Just run the ad as used tapes, payment by M.O. or check only.[or bidpay]

I sell videos on half and ebay. I sell too many to personally view, but I won't put a money back guarantee in the ad. If there is a problem, I expect people to contact me. I've only had a few problems (just got a neg on half yesterday) but in my experience people on half don't even look at your feedback (for the record, it is over 1000 positive, 3 negs and 7 neutrals, so I am not doing that bad) - Will people scam you? Yes! I've gotten complaints filed through half that it was not working, I put in my response to have the buyer send back the tape and then I will refund, and sometimes they will never follow through. Maybe they are lazy, maybe they are scamming (expecting the seller to say keep the tape and get a refund) - Luckily never a problem on ebay, just half but I sell a LOT more movies on half than ebay.

VHS flicks are essentially worthless to sell on feeBay unless OOP & extremely rare & highy valued such as Passolini's SALO, the all-time #1 most disgusting main-stream flick ever produced!

I sell used vhs tapes and do offer a full refund policy. I fast scan all tapes because when I was a new seller I did watch all tapes and listen to all recordings before listing them for sale. I found one with some x-rated home footage in the middle of a used movie one time. This made me determined to at least ff through each tape to avoid a "situation"...
I mainly sell childrens/family items and would be horrified if a buyer had bought that tape, put in in for the kids and out popped something "adult"... when you buy used tapes you just don't know who had them and what they did with them. I think it pays to check in ultra fast speed if you can.
We have sold many tapes in the past few years. I think there is a great market out there right now. But sadly I think the good days of VHS sales are quickly coming to an end with DVD so popular....

Ahc3: When you sell the videos on Half.com, do you post a picture? Ditto on Ebay? Is a picture necessary? (Seems like it would be, but I'm still learning. . . . )

half - no, most already have pictures. Ebay, yes, I think that pictures really make a difference for ebay auctions.

I use to sell alot of videos on E-Bay And Half.Com. The only ones I ever had a nightmare over were some videos I got from a company called Vid-Tape and the real problem is you can end up with these tapes from another company you have bought from. You won't know they are Vid-tape until you get them. There are also DVDs that are just as bad. The picture sucks and the sound is awful. The Vid-tape videos usually have a usa flag on the back of the box.The cover art work on alot of the DVDs is very poor. Alot of this stuff is also stuck in with Closeouts or where you are buying big lots. This is the alot of stuff Sellers start at a penny on E-Bay.
