I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I just receive this email that lookes very authentic, but I believe it is another scam ~~

Dear Ebay Customer,

This email is to inform you of a recent update we made to our systems,

your account as soon as possible.

Please take a moment to confirm your account by going to the following address:

http://[email protected]

Follow these steps:

1: Log in by clicking the link given above.
2: Verify who you are.
3: Your account will then be updated, you may continue using Ebay services with out any interruptions.

*** Please note: If you FAIL to update your account, it will be temporarily disabled.

Well, I clicked on the link, and they wanted EVERYTHING! NAME, ADDRESS PHONE NUMBER, AND OF COURSE PASSWORD. Now my question is how do I forward this to Ebay? Many thanks!

Send it to ebay under "spoof". Never click on those links as they are all scams!

I had one a couple of days ago that said they 'lost' my credit card number and would I please send it to them immediately or they would suspend me. No way is that valid. I think they would handle it a little better than that if they lost it.

Can't you just imagine how the media would jump on "ebay lost credit card numbers"???? There's an announcement/warning dated 2/23 but I guess no one looks at the Announcement Board before clicking on the spam.

Thanks to all for the information. I forwarded it on to the [email protected] address. It would be interesting (and depressing!) to know how many people give out all this information. If these scammers would put this much work into a legitimate. business they would probably do well! It is SAD!

Here s one I just received. The link looked ok but went to a different address when I clicked on it. They are trying to get your paypal and ebay passwords, credit card, bank account number, ssn, ATM pin, mother's maiden name, drivers license number and some other stuff. If anyone actually fills it out I think they would be in real trouble.
(I did forward it to [email protected])

It would be interesting (and depressing!) to know how many people give out all this information.
Sad thing is there are so many that do. Why? Because they do not keep on top of things or read the ebay or aw boards.[Not thinking]

Here is a classic example right now as this can cost you your account, cc # passwords etc...
This one is on the boards now going thru a nightmare.
"eBay ok'ing new sell my user name "

Clues right there! Since when did feeBay develop a sense of humor?
