hi everybody,
POWER SELLER, BEWARE !!!
please read this : (sorry, my english is not perfect, i am french; i hope everybody could understand what happened to me):
crooks used my id on ebay to sell expensive items.
i dont know how they known my password but they made it. i learn after that it's a rumanian connection who do this for financial fraudes. they choose Power seller users with very good feedback (just like me)they sell or suppose to sell expensive items (1500 $ or more)with payment
by western union. before doing that, they asked ebay to change the email address user
(i received the confirmation of ebay on last thrusday, i was a little supprised of this but i did not care at that time). then, they listed 4 items with buy it now option and all options that they could do(bold, gallery etc..). 2 of these auctions were ended by buy it now option and many bids were on the others. i cancelled of course these 2 auctions
since i saw on friday "my ebay".

click on the links below to see what they listed on my behalf (the auctions with buy it now option):

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3336&item=2917350121&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=8295&item=2917349487&rd=1

i of course contacted ebay and all the bidders to do not send any payment.
i keep my id but changed my password.
my fees to ebay are ok now since their confirmation of fraudes.

do you hear same stories like this?
joe

It happened to me! they also stole my yahoo.com account. I couldn't get in on my auctions, went to seller search and my auctions came up, it had a cell phone listed, I freaked, I got ahold of eBay live and they even called me at my house, she ended the auction and refunded the fees and cancelled the cell phone, I don't even have one myself not to mention selling one. They sent me a new password and I was able to get back in as me. I went to my info and a different person, address and everything else was there, not me. I made the mistake of vertifying my email, id and what eBay never askes for PASSWORD... I had received a spoof letter saying I was to be pre suspended to vertify the ownership of my account. I had the same password for all my accounts so this person tried it on my e-mail used to register with eBay and got that e-mail account as well were all the questions for sellers go as well as paypal, numerous other purposes. So ignore all presuspension letters. I received one in my new e-mail account as well, it was immediately deleted. I tried calling the person who's phone number was in my info, no answer of course. I don't know what eBay did about it, several people I know personally got one, I asked one guy did he vertify and put in his password, he said he did, I told him to go when we got off the phone and to immediately change password. So he did and was not affected by this outrage of theft. Thanks for all the info have enjoyed reading others solutions for problems we share.

Well seeing as you are french the solution is obvious. It is not time to rush to any action. I suggest we wait for a while and inspect all other auctions on e-bay and see if we can find any hidden thiefs. After this we must then have an e-bay summit and see if we can come to a peaceful conclusuion using these inspections. In the meantime just let them continue to build power and fraud by using your account. If after all this fails and your business is in ruins maybe we can then consider some other course of action but only if all other e-bayers, including said thief agree to said terms..

What a rude comment! This person came to the board for help. Comments like that should be left to the Round Table Board. People come here for help with their auctions, not for political ridicule. Just like some American don't support our government's position on war, maybe not all French support theirs either.

That said. . .

Jose2727

Sorry about your ID theft and equally as sorry for the political comment made here. Not all of us think this way. Are you sure you didn't respond to one of the phony Ebay emails? Hope things get resolved for you quickly! Good luck! And, don't worry about your English not being perfect, neither is mine. LOL

Cheryl, I agree with you.

Tomyou, take it to the round table.

Jose, we are not all rude uncouth people. Only a few of us are. If you need any more help, just ask.

Most ebay accounts are not hacked at all. Problem stems from users giving out their info to scam emails thinking that they where send from ebay.
Never, ever give out any information based on a email. Ebay will never ask you for your CC number or password etc. in a email.
Always check the email headers to see where this is coming from and report this to ebay as soon as you can. Best of luck.

tomyou
What the hell are you thinking ? This kind of crap has no place here. I may not agree with the french outlook, but I would not hammer someone looking for help or advice.

I have made Tomwiii disgusted and ashamed !! Yippee . Hey tomwiii I can answer that question of yours but for heavens sake I don't want to be rude. As for the round table idea, I have a son and a nephew in Kuwait at this very moment so I'll post that comment where ever I like. Sorry if I took a light hearted jab but in my situation a little comedy relief between my prayers helps. If it offends you don't read it and put me on ignore !!

If people need to understand what is going on in the world - whether you agree or disagree- tomyou's analogy was perfect. While I feel for the person who has his ID stolen, (and I'm sure tomyou does also) I found the comment made by tomyou right on the money.

Edited to add - I'm a French American who is wrestling with the criticism that I get from my relatives in France and my feelings of being an American.

Everyone is on edge right now, but adding to that edginess doesn't help and judging someone by what their government chooses to do or not do isn't fair. Prayers to your son and nephew! I hope they stay safe and return home soon.

Cheryl, I wasn't judging anyone, as I said it was a somewhat light hearted statement during a heavy hearted day.(or days) If it was taking to hard by anyone it wasn't my intention. I am also a powerseller and know the risks of a highjacked account and as lovetocook states I do hope Joses account gets fixed as I am sure it will. However, I do stand by my analogy as france's (not the poster)politcial position and make no apologies for that whatsoever. Heck ask me how I really feel !! and thanks for your prayers, about that I am serious.

Since we are not going to stay on topic, can anyone tell me how to block out certain users comments when I'm looking at threads? I get tired of certain usernames idiotic comments, especially political ones.

Dlegoflamb - Click on the AW user name and when it comes up it will tell you when they joined and how many postings they have made. Then below that there is an igorne I think if you click on that you are good to go. I have never used it so I really don't know if it works. What I do is just consider the source and move on.

thanks for all your support !
i precise that i never give my ebay password
to anybody or reply to any scam emails.
the false seller choose me because i am
a power seller with good feedback. how he
find my password?, i dont know. ebay did not
reply exactly to me at this question.
the false email address the seller gave to ebay was even my name ! with different place
(yahoo.es, i.e spain).
i told this story just for the warning.
it could be happen to anybody else.
especially to sellers who take vacation for a week or two and if they dont see very day their"my ebay".
see below what the seller sent to the bidder
after the auction :

"
1. SHIPPMENT :

There are 3 options of delivery services that are very
fast :

- UPS 2 days air insured
- FedEx 2 days air insured
- DHL insured

Any of those services are good, but I personaly
prefere UPS 2 days air, if you have other preference, there
is no problem.

2. PAYMENT :

For payment, the fastest ways to send money worldwide
are Western Union wire transfer. To arrange the transfer, you
must go in person to an Western Union or Money Gram agent
(you cannot send money online to my country, but please visit
www.westernunion.com or to find the nearest agent and hours
of operation).

From Western Union , you will receive a number (MTCN - Money
Transfer Control Number), you must send me that number as
soon as you have arranged the payment so I can go to
www.westernunion.com to see if the transaction is arranged.

As soon as I have verifyed the transaction, I will ship you
the package with all the accesories with the delivery service
selected by you.

For the reason that you will pay some money for the Western
Union wire transfer fee, I will cover shipping and insurance.

3. INSURANCE

The package will be insured at the delivery service for the
amount of 3000$.

If somethig happens on the road , you will receive the
insurance from the delivery service.

4. RETURN POLICY

As soon as the package arrives, you will test the product and
if it does not matches 100% to your expectations, you will
return it in max. 5 days sience the arrival date. In this
case I will send you the full amount back and you will send
me the product in the original box and you will pay the
return shipping and insurance."

hope it can helps.

Joe.......OOPS hang on ....A bank inspector just showed up at my door. Apparently one of the tellers have been dipping into my account. I have to give him a blank signed check so they can catch her in the act. He assures me that I don't have to worry since the bank will cover me for up to $1million if anything goes wrong with the shakedown.
