I sell kids toys, new & used, collectible kids toys and card games, antique china and just plain cheap used stuff. Last week I was able to sell a few collectibles and used items that were very low priced This last sunday when my auctions closed only two collectible card games and two used items sold. Nothing else.

Could be the time of the year? Right before taxes are due? The ecconomy or what? I would like to know how your selling has been going lately and what kinds of things you sell?

There is a direct relation to the imminent threat of war and the lack of bids. Mine has roller-coastered right along with each announcement that we are closer to war. I am going to stop bidding now because the threat of war is affecting the economy, which is affecting my husband's income and mine. We have quit buying anything we don't have to have right now, but still live comfortably.

With war and possbile terrorist attacks, the announcement that there is a global threat of a deadly flu that is even killing the doctors that treat it, the buyer's attention is on surviving, not on the next cool, lovely, or fun item they can find a bargain on.

For buyers, it IS a good time to buy if they can afford it. There is less bidding competition in many categories right now. Fewer listings, though in some as well.

Fabric (yardage) listings are down to less 1/2 of what they were in December. But the sellers who had the junk stuff are all still there!

(L@@K! Please Buy My Old Smelly Leftover Polyester Double Knit Funky Big Flower Fabric Scraps - Lovely!)

I'd rather they all went away. Still some good stuff to be had, but have to look through proportionally more junk to find the goodies.

I had my best month ever in February. My previous best month was January. So far this month, I'm on track to possibly beat February, and definitely beat January. I guess it just depends on what you sell.

in some categories i monitor closely, the bidding is still going strong,of course price trend is low and getting lower.
dealers who have good stock is holding back their stock and desperate sellers keep relisting.listing and relisting can get expensive,i see items listed at 10 or 26,if they only start at 9.99 or 24.99,they will save some money.
i also see dealers asking for more shipping fee and getting them

I've been mainly selling books lately and have seen a definite slow selling rate. I think people are watching FOX News instead of reading!

Ok, so the majority of us say that things have slowed down. What is selling? My CCGs are not but a few of my cheapo household items and a toy sold.

I have the best luck with weird stuff..lol that sounds nuts but it's true ...I pick up stuff from yard sales/estate sale ,capa ,goodewill, salvation army ect ect.and the crazier it is the more they want it.I guess because you can't just go to walmarts and pick one up.I also found I get better prices if I don't know much about the thing I'm selling because I'll start it low and they have bid wars over the cheap item. How about everyone else?

My DVDs, Video games and pieces of a personal collection I am selling off had 100% sell thru on another account. My extreme niche magazines only did about 20% though.

I sell knives and I have around an 85-90% sell through rate right now and that's with limited offerings due to my inventory being low. I'm waiting on some new products to hit the market in the next couple of weeks.

I am a seller for around 6 years and have over 4000 feedbacks. Ebay is way off don't let anyone tell you different. Some of the best sellers are long gone to better places.

We have found eBay sales off in the last few days, but up until then, it has been quite good for us - we have been on eBay since 1996 - and are Power Sellers. We sell in widely divergent fields, so when one drops, another picks up -

BUT, with the world situation as it is on this day, I just decided because of the MESS PayPal created with not being able to charge through items prohibited on eBay, we have to revamp over a 100 auctions we have running on a specialty auction, which are for items not allowed on eBay BUT legal in many states.

With War on the horizon, and sales slowing down for a few days, I am going to let the 120 auctions on eBay just ride, and pull the 100 on the niche auction we use, and take this sales lull time to remove all of the PayPal info from those auctions and repost them.

AND try to take a 2 or 3 days breather, as we have been swamped since xmas....I'm ready for a few days breather.

I think people are going to need to get their minds off the news soon. They'll want to be cheered up. Maybe shop for things that remind them of happier times or things that promise a brighter future.

During the Depression, people would scrape together their pennies to go to the movies. Now they can go to eBay & buy (new or used) movies and games and bring them right into their homes. They can buy a box of books for the summer.

They look for inspirational gifts and books.

I sell in a couple of collectable categories.
Things have certainly slowed down, I had two
items close today, one for a decent price,
the other just so-so.

Right now I have nothing listing and will
probably be taking an ebay break for awhile
until the war in Iraq is over. Peoples
attention is being diverted there at the present time. Has anyone noticed the poor
attendance at some of the NCAA mens basketball playoff games on TV?
