I was going to wait until next week and not make any listings today for Sunday closeing but I think that after 4 days of the talking heads says nothing over and over again the general public may be looking for any escape venue possible. I know I'm ready to run screaming from TV right now and I'm usually news junkie.

i am thinking the same thing and i am a news junkie too...also seems like much of the war will be staged during our day - (iraqi night) so the night news will be rehash of the day news

OH Boy, did I do a bad thing last night. I was waiting for 5pm pacific time to come to see if we were going to be in the war like millions of others were doing yesterday and then the bombing started. My little boy was in the livingroom with me, half watching tv and finishing up his homework. I shared with him my amazement of how we can see what is happening on the other side of the world almost as it happens minus a few seconds delay time for transmitting. We watched the sun set here while the sun was rising in Iraq. Amazing! Then the bombing started and all the commentary started. To make a long story short, MY POOR LITTLE BOY WAS TERRIFIED ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Still was a little fightened this morning! WARNING to all parents of school age kids, Don't Repeat my Mistake!!!

Life will go on. People will want alternatives to watching the ultimate "reality TV." With every network and all the cable news channels showing the same green picture of Bagdad, I think people will break away to do something else.

I also think that surfing the net and doing something the eBay way will take peoples' minds off the war, the threats, and the fears. Hey, I'm doing this instead of watching right now!

We all hope and pray this conflict will resolve quickly, and that we can capitalize on the "liberation" of Iraq.

I have 2 teenage daughters my older daughter was praying for her friend Mike who is a Marine groundpounder and she gave his mom a service star to hang in their window, the younger one I had to explain everything to her and calm her fears. I am a retired Army First Sgt, CNN and NBC and all the other news people go on and on and on just to keep you there listening they will bring on the guy who built the tomahawk missle and will interview his dog just to keep it going. I just go to the news websites and get any updates thank God I have a lot of DVDs I can watch.

I hate to say this, but my sales are way up this week. Much more traffic to my auctions than I'd normally get... I even listed a bunch of relists and others assorted "dogs" and they are getting hits and bids.

I think people need escape. I know I've been involved in a DVD Series this week. I can't stand the news all the time myself. It is too depressing...

kyms, I think it depends what you're selling. I have a whole variety of "stuff" listed. The only things that are getting bids are a Marines thing and an antique that I listed WAY below even garage sale prices

I agree, I am getting lots of traffic on my auctions. I think people get tired of watching the war, we all know it's going on, and our hearts are going out to all involved, but as an Englishwoman living in Canada, and having lived in the U.S. for several years, and with sons of good friends over in Iraq, I just hate hearing the bombs and the sirens going off. I think we all need some diversion these days. Surely ALL the networks don't need to cover it!!

Everybody please pray for my Marine Son also. His name is Daniel. He is over at Kuwait. I had to go away from the T.V. so I don't lose my sanity.

VICKROSE, You certainly have my prayers added to the others, as I go to bed I pray for all those Brave Men and Women who are over there, and even throughout the day. It is difficult watching after any length of time and I have found myself getting upset with some of the reporters who NEED to know so much. I liked what the Pentagon finally told them that we are not going to compromise lives by disclosing things as exact locations, etc., but it could be the underlineing fear of the unknown that makes me mentally "take it out on reporters". Although I don'think it's necessary for a "Good Story" to Need to Know "Everything". God Bless your family and son, along with all our Troops, all the Allies, and the civilians over there as well as the U.S.A. Nite.

I've had several auctions close with BINs, but I'm wondering if it had more to do with the fact that I ponyed up and had photos appear in the Gallery for an extra quarter. I think that makes a difference.

As for the war coverage, my 3 y/o son was in daycare on Friday when the BIG stuff hit at noon...and when I dropped him off in the morning, I noticed the TV had a news channel on. At the end of the day, I was very tempted to ask the provider if they TV was left on during the huge barrage on Baghdad....But he's only 3 so I don't think he would know what's going on...although I remember JFK's funeral when I was 3 and I really remember the Cuban Missile Crisis as well, which was earlier. But, I'm not traumatized over it.
