With all the gloom and doom out there concerning eBay, I was wondering what is selling. Now, I am not asking for specifics but in general, what catogory are you doing well in?

My guess would be porn, dope, and alcohol!

Nintendo games always do well. Some books do well.

I was browsing the photo backdrops yesterday and couldn't believe 98% of them had bids. I was just in watch parts and they seem to be doing fairly well.

The category I sell in right now is pretty dead.

It doesn't matter what you are selling it will all sell on eBay. The only problem is you have to start it at 10% of what it is worth.

Captain,
I recently found a free service that Ebay offers which is weekly lists of "hot" items by category.
Hope this helps you.

Live Link for Category's That are Hot:

I wouldn't know what is hot, I got off when I saw the trend - we only have our store up since the 2nd day of the war - some of our web sites are doing good to great - but they are handling items which aren't eBay oriented.

I'm just using the lull to update and reorganize -

I just checked the above link, and it is quite interesting - I am also taking this time to do a free trial of "Deep Analysis," which I have found VERY interesting, in analyzing eBay trends.

We are about to ship about fifty items that sold this weekend. Normal for a Monday is about twenty items. I am shocked by the amount of items we sold this week.

Books, reacords, games, and one DVD. Most items got two or more bids, some sold for 10X what I expected... Our best week since Christmas.

I think people are looking for escape from the War, I know I am.

99% sell thru last week and about 50% have already paid. The first time like that on eBay. I was very happy. All items that sold were way above my starting bid.

classicrock000 I resent that remark. I think that was uncalled for and it doesn't belong in this thread.

First off I have to say classicrock000 is a jerk. Secondly I seel videos and dvd's and just had the biggest sales week ever. Sold 98 percent of everything and most for much, much higher than I paid for it. I hope this trend continues.

Marc must have been having a bad hair day. Usually he much more cordial than that. But his customers are plus sized women like me, so he may have an axe to grind with one or two if he's had some problem buyers. I've heard clothing customers can be the worst. But seems like he wouldn't try to alienate the fat hands that feed him! Dunno.

I wasn't offended. I just laughed because it was unexpected! I figured he's get plenty of flack from others here.

Patty,

What are you talking about??? There is not one negative comment in this thread about what I sell or my customers. Go back and review the entire thread. The only comment I made was that I sell plus size clothing and it is doing very well for me. Most of you know my user name and can see my listings.

The person with the name of classicrock or some derivative of that made the nasty comment.

I would never, never refer to any customers in that way.

Marc- It wasn't your statement, it was Classicrocks reply to you that she found distasteful.

After all, fat women have to wear clothes too. Oh, did *I* say that?

Is classicrock a "Marc" also?

Marc,

I stand corrected. It was the confusing post by classic rock without italics on your comment. I misread and thought it was from you. I guess I'm trying to read these boards too fast.

My apologies. Others obviously mis-read it as well as they thought it came from you.

No Problem at all Patty! Maybe some people are jealous that "Plus Size" clothing is doing so well. I can see how some people got confused.

Jewelry and chocolate always do well, no matter what the economy.

I suppose that will remain true as long as there are women in the world.
