I need to put a chart in most of my auctions and I can create a crude chart with the html that eBay has listed to use but it doesn't look that good.

Any advice or website that show how?

Thanks!

paws4god,

What kind of data are you using to make the chart? Is it already in an Excel spreadsheet? If not... that would be my first step. Here's a breakdown of what I would do:

1) Insert data in Excel Spreadsheet
2) In Excel, go to the menu bar and choose INSERT->CHART.
3) Follow the steps in the Chart Wizard that appears to customize the appearance of your chart.
4) Select the chart
5) Copy the chart (choose EDIT->COPY from the menu bar, or choose COPY by right-clicking)
6) Open any image editing software (Photoshop, PaintShop pro, etc...) and create a new document.
7) Choose EDIT->PASTE from the menu bar. Your chart should appear in the new document.
8) Save the image as a .gif, or .jpg file.
9) Insert it into your auction descriptions just as you would any other image.

Hope that helps! (My RL job is as an academic software trainer) Let me know if I can be of any further assistance!

Thanks eauction.

I did all that but that way I have to insert it as a photo along with my photos in auction don't I? I was hoping I could get one in html so I can just copy and paste into all my auctions below the description.

My copy of the Excel doesn't save in html. The "help" said if my copy doesn't I have to uninstall it and re-install and all that. Anyway it won't let me save the chart in html.

Thanks!!!!

paws4god,

A chart is a graphic object, and is not text-based. As such, a chart can not be generated using solely HTML. Even if you were able to save your Excel file as a webpage, it would create an image for the chart. That image would need to be accessible in order for the chart to be seen when the HTML is copied. Are you using AuctionWatch to create your listings? If so, upload your chart image to your image hosting section. Then, you can include this HTML in your auction listings:

<img src="http://imagehost.auctionwatch.com/bin/viewimage.x/00000000/YOUR_USER_NAME/YOUR_PICTURE_NAME.jpg">

That should do it for you. Use .gif instead of .jpg if your chart is saved as a gif. If you're not using AuctionWatch, load your picture to what ever service hosts your images. Then include the URL for that image inside the quotation marks of the img src tag. Hope that helps!

eauction-------

What I am trying to create is a size chart with a grid so to speak. I am doing one without the grid in html.

Yes I do use AW to list and I did save the one I did on excel as jpg. so I can upload it and use it. But I can only use it as I would a photo which is ok but I really wanted an html. I see them in auctions quite often and wondered how they did it.

Thanks for suggesting excel it a great job for using one as a jpg. and I will probably use that more than the html that I am doing.

Thanks again.

paws4god,

Thanks for clarifying what you are trying to do. It sounds like you are actually trying to create a table... not a chart. (similarly used terms... but completely diferent objects!). A table CAN be created solely in html. Visit this webpage for some help on creating a table:

http://www.tips-tricks.com/table.asp

The advantage to using a table instead of a chart is that the table is text based and will load quicker then a graphic chart. Good luck!

Sorry eauction I really didn't realize there was a difference. To me a chart is a chart. But I didn't stop to think a graph or text. I went to the page and it sound hard but I will give it a try and see what I come up with.
Thanks so much for all the help!

A) Make a chart in Excel, Powerpoint or any other program you like.

B) Press the PRINT-SCREEN Button on your keyboard. This makes a copy of the entire screen on the Windows clip-board.

C) Open "Windows Paint" or whatever picture-editing program you like. Create a blank image larger than your screen.

D) "PASTE" the screen shot from the clipboard into the image and edit out (Cut, Crop or whatever) all the stuff that you don't want in your final image.

E) SAVE the final image as a JPG, GIF or whatever format you need.

It sounds complicated, but once you've done learned to do it, you'll be amazed at how often you can use this procedure.
