Rumor has it reduction-in-force coming to eBay... word is they were trying to make it happen end of this quarter, looks like it might have to wait until next.

Given the state of the world economic situation, pick any company and it would be a reasonable guess that if they haven't had a layoff in the past year they will be soon.

Ebay's core business can run pretty well with minimal staffing - it's all software and hardware driven. My guess is that their layoffs (if any) may be in the marketing areas.

As for F*d company, I have read it off and on since it started, and based on the conflicting and illogical statements presented by the contributors would consider its accuracy more dependent on the law of averages than on their insights.

eBay also reported it expects to record $3 million in costs related to retention and severance of Half.com workers. eBay is in the process of integrating the Half.com site into the eBay site, and expects that by the third quarter of 2004, Half.com should be fully integrated into the eBay platform.
