Had a guy bid up to 100.00 on a widget, 3 weeks later no payment, so I email him a reminder, no response. 4 days later I filed NPB, then I get this email..
-----
HELLO.
please dont panic about the check Ive sent your regarding the item..
it will be to you soon enough.
thanks
-----
OK, I said to myself. 10 days later I get this email..
----
hi ..
have you received my money order for the item yet?
I hope everything is fine..
all respects and let me know
---
I said nope, he didnt respond back. I figured its been almost 7 weeks since auction closed, so I finalyl filed FVF, then I get this email (curse words deleated)
----
I cant believe you reported to ebay that Im a non payer..
god damn it..
I told you that I sent it and that it was lost...
did you lose 99 bucks??? no@!! I did..
so then I sent you another 99 bucks and i get a confirmation number and everything....
If you dont retract that non paying sh*t Im gonna get that money sent back to me and I will leave you negative feedback if you leave me negative feedback...Ive been on ebay for 5 years now and only have two negative feedbacks ..and both were from people like you who freak out when things go wrong at the post...
so ..are you gonna retract that sh*t and sell this to me..or are you gonna make things worse?
----

Oh brother! He never told me he sent TWO payments to me! I already contacted the 2nd bidder who is still very interested. Anything I can do? Can I report him to ebays for something like threat or something? Should I trust him and help him find his 2 missing payments (sarcasm)? What do you guys think?

I don't know what your correspondence with him was previously, but the nastier he gets, the cooler you should be, IMO. I would simply respond by laying out the history of the transaction in a completely factual, non-opinionated way, and asking him if he can provide any backup for his claims that he's sent the payment (a money order number, that "confirmation number" he's referring to, whatever.) If you want to give him a little extra time to get things arranged, you can do that.

Then just do what you have to do. If you do re-sell the widget and then get a payment from him, you can always just "return to sender."

Hi, my ONLY emails to him was a standard EOM, then standard total, then the reminder (not the NPB) from ebays, then a email answering question on recieving the payment by saying "Nope, havent gotten it yet" and thats it! He is getting nasty though. Cant I report him to ebays for feedback threat or something?

I would try reporting him to eBay, but they may not do anything.... I would just tell him, if and when his money arrives, you will not be dealing with him, go and sell to your second bidder and move on.

AIN'T LIFE GRAND...

ironking,

Considering the profanity, eBay MIGHT do something (depending on who reads your message). You might also get some results if you report it to his ISP. (then his contact information might become invalid and then ebay WOULD take care of him!) Just a thought....

Add them to your blocked bidder list, & keep a copy of the threatening emails. Sounds like they are bordering on terroristic threats, advise them of that fact & any more threating messages will be reported to his local law enforcement agency.

THEN SELL THE THING TO THE NEXT HIGHEST BIDDER.

I think you've been more than patient enough. I'd block him from
bidding and emailing me, file the npb and give that other buyer
a shot at it. Neg. the nutcase nicely and if/when he leaves you
a neg I'll bet it's full of niceties (GRIN). too. Then you can get
your neg. removed. And all will be nice again.

You gave the nut case plenty of time to respond and pay. Drop him like the trouble he is. You did nothing wrong. He has. He has threatened negative feedback, which I believe is a violation of TOS. Report him to Ebay, block him as a bidder, block his emails. If you receive his payment (likely you will receive nothing), send it back immediately with no explanation.

Offer the item to the next highest bidder.

The original buyer will very likely continue to be a problem as long as you stay in communication with him, no matter what you do to appease him. Drop him and move on.

Why waste your time with this person at all? Its over once you file for your fees. Block email and bidder option and forget about it.
Sounds more like they are pizzed as they may get the boot soon. Good for you.

How is he out $198? He didn't say the you received the checks and cashed them. He's a whacko with a whacko story trying to make you out to be the bad guy. With deadbeats it is NEVER their fault.

Do what Meadowlark says and just block everything and forget that he exists. If the payment shows up (fat chance), write "refused" on the envelope and drop it in the mailbox.

I had a very similar thing happen with me last week. I had a guy who said he sent payment, received the item, posted feedback for me, and asked if I would do the same. Problem was... I never received the payment, and never shipped the item. Needless, to say emails went on and on about this. I finally told him to send me email me a copy of the money order -or- email me the serial number, date of purchase, and company who made the money order so that I could verify. He played dumb for about 4 days, with, "I never received any of the info you requested with the money order, I purchased it at 7-11, etc." Finally, I gave him an ultimatum- send me the info or he would get feedback, a FVF, etc. All of a sudden, he replies, "OMG I made a mistake. YOU (me) gave me the wrong address, and I received it back." Another lie, because my email signature has my mailing address which has been the same for 2 years.
Finally, I told them the deal was off. They threw a fit, and I told them to never email me again. I gave up after trying way too hard to appease this person.
I suggest at least giving them the opportunity to provide proof of payment before you leave feedback. Tell them you won't remove the FVF until it is paid for, and that you expect payment within 7 days, otherwise the deal is off.
