I for this email today. It does not specify my username anywhere in the email and takes me to a very long link that opens up two windows. One blank and one a log in. Has anyone seen this email before? Is it really from ebay? I looked at my account and it states active and there are no flags when loggin in. Here is the email. Let me know if this is legit. Thanks, Sandra.

Dear eBay User,

We recently reviewed your account, and we need more information to help us provide you with secure service. Until we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features will be limited. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we would like to restore your access as soon as possible.

To restore full access to your account, please log in and verify your information using the SSL secure link below:

We encourage you to log in and restore full access as soon as possible. Should access to your account remain limited for an extended period of time, it may result in further limitations on the use of your account or may result in eventual account closure.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

NEVER...never...NeVeR...neVER...log into yer feeBay account via an email link!

Donna even click on such links outta curiosity (ala kitty)!

If ya think the link may be fer real, just goto "MY EBAY" and log in there & check things out!

Abstinance is the byword of safe feeBaying!

I got it today too. A standard scam email. Never check your account thru their link. If you have the least bit of concern log into the ebay website and check your account from there.

These scammers are trying to harvest ebay accounts for fradulent purposes.

Did you log in through that link? If so, I'd make suer you get on the REAL eBay and change your password quickly. Also, forward that email on to safe harbor.

Just out of curiosity -how many emails have ever been posted here asking for your passord that are actually legitimate? None, Zero, Zilch, Nadda! So why is it that evvery two days someone comes posting another badly worded illogical letter insisting that their account is in dire perril? Never mind that they themselves point out the tell tale markers, they still ask. I don't get it.

neonmania -

This is the first one of these I have ever recieved.

I posted it here becasue:

a) this is a forum for that kind of thing.

b) becasue I wanted confirmation, even though I suspected.

c) so people could see the latest one if it was a scam.

There are newbies on the board and people who just really want to be sure who have not dealt with this before (like me). Sorry to inconvenience anyone if this is a duplicate subject.

Thanks all for the confirmation, I am forwarding it etc.

Sandra

I got one from Paypal which said they were doing a routine security check!! It was, of course, scam email.
I am even afraid to ask the survey emails now??
