Lately I guess it would be a book,Agatha Christie Black Coffee HB for $87.00 other than that I sold a new baby stroller for a little over $200.00 a few years back.

A collection of old Trixie Belden books that I paid $20 for sold for $350+ back in the old, crazy days of eBay. I took a personal check and shipped before it cleared (Hey, I was young and stupid.) It bounced. The bidder (by now obviously in the grip of runaway remorse) tried to back out. Unfortunately for her, she was within four counties of me, so I just called the State Attorney's office. Suddenly ... money!

I will occasionally flip through eBay and browse the Trixie listings. I don't think I've ever seen the collective value of the editions I had go above $120.

Anybody remember about a year ago when the guy in Seattle was trying to sell everything he owned? I believe it was like $300,000.00.

Sanmar: typo alert...the prices of the pilot's airfare...is it $300 to $400, or $3,000 to $4,000?

Good luck! I'd bid, but I'm between fortunes right now.

$7700 on a lot of several thousand videos is my one-time high end. My usual items top off at around $60.00

How much you wanna bet sanmar's one auction is more than the TOTAL of everything posted in this thread?

We would be stupid to take that bet. My highest was a Agatha Christie Signed book for $362.00. I got it in a bag sale at the Library. Fill a bag for $3.00 and I had 40 books. Do you remember me talking about a Sterling Silver Memory Heart Bracelet well it sold for $200.00. I get really nervous when something sells high as I am afraid that when they get it they won't like it. Anyone else feel that way? Pieces of Jewelry I think should go high don't and the ones I think should sell low sell high.

Sanmar I think you need to test drive the jet and come and give us all a ride.

I worry about the jewelry thing all the time. Usually to ease my conscience (especially when I know it's worth less than the bid) is add an extra something in their package. I keep a lot of cheaper items around for that reason. I can never quite figure out what it is people want. It changes with the tide.

My highest was the jewelry lot I just sold for over $800.

Libra - I learned long ago that anything I thought was pure unadulterated hideous junk would sell high and anything I thought was incredible and would be loved by all would be lucky to get a single bid I talked about this strange phenomenon with a friend that does logo designs and we both discovered that the designs we had each done that we hated the most were the ones that were loved most by their new owners and the ones we thought were strokes of brilliance were passed on at first glance. Our final conclusion was that the public at large has no taste and that actual creativity disturbs their cookies-and-milk mindset.

Libra, I know exactly what you mean by the fear over high bids. I am always afraid that they won't like the item when it arrives. I keep looking at the pictures and description during the auction, just to make sure I didn't do or say something misleading.

I have been very lucky with my intuition as far as buying for resale goes. I will purchase something and my hubby will poo poo the $3 or $4 I pay for it....when it sells for over $100 he just says "go figure".

BTW; The cost of the auction insertion fees is $40.00 & $5.00 for highlight. The FVF is $40.00! This is through eBay Motors. I will get 1/2 of 1 percent just for setting up the auction doing some faxing, answering emails. BTW: The air fare to Litunania for 2 pilots will be between $3000.00 & $4000.00. NOT a typo. As of 1 minute ago there were 2661 hits! Remember this is a world wide sale, so there is a lot of interest. Already have a party in Romania who won't bid, but is willing to negotiate if it doesn't sell. The auction ends at 12:00PM May 4th.

If you place the words learjet model 25b in the Google search engine you'll find several of these for sale on the Net. Have to tried contacting any of the online aircraft sellers to see if they may want the craft or possible get some info on buying a jet in a foreign land?

Sanmar, I don't want to see your stinking airplane.
If you want to sell it let ebay do it. Don't come here and use up bandwidth.

Boy, I know what you're talking about, Libra. I sell consignment items for friends and have had some high-value items...an antique quilt for $1400, a china head doll for $684, an antique book for $865...and I am on pins and needles until I hear from the winning bidder that he's happy...so far, all have been. Since there's no way I can be an "expert" on such a wide range of items, I try to go overboard on descriptions/photos...but I still worry and fret. I've never seen this topic here so am glad you mentioned it...it's comforting to know that others have the same angst...

I bought this mint Noritake figural condiment set in an antique store about 21 years ago for 20.00 & it sold on eBay for 834.00 to someone in England.
If anyome here remembers shosh she told me exactly to list it, she is an expert in antiques, & without her advice I would have gotten much less. I certainly would not have known to put the word figural in my title & that is the key word
rather than just saying Noritake. There is a lot of Noritake on eBay, but very few figural pieces in comparison.
My thanks to shosh & I certinly do miss her.

I just sold a freaky looking Detroit baseball player bank. It went for $999. I think my girlfriend and I walked around muttering "Holy SH*T" for about 15 minutes since we couldn't believe it. Grandpa was watching over us that day (he was the one that bought it years ago)!

My highest priced sold item was a railroad lantern that went for $155.oo, I paid $15.00. My highest profit item was an Anri music box with Linus and Snoopy. It sold for $111.00, I paid 25 cents!! Things that I never thought would sell so high have been postcards and other paper items that went for $50.00 to $80.00. Who knew?

sanmar, I also think it's a typo. You need one more 0 in the figures for the pilots air fare. Good luck with your auction.

mcjane, I remember when you first showed that set. I love it! Shosh was very helpful and I hope she is doing okay wherever she is.

My biggest sales were for china pieces that sold from $1200.00 to $1600.00 each. Those were the days when ebay was truly fun. You could list and by next morning you would see bids on almost everything and then it only got better as the week progressed. Nostalgia!

About 5 years ago, I sold something, I had paid less than $2 for... and it went for $3950. No regrets on the buyers..... didn't really know what it was, only that it was a telegraph key... happened to be the last one this collector needed, and seemed no one could find. And at the time I had just over 100 feedback.

Them were the days
