Hi everyone. I am having another perplexion. All my auctions that closed in the last 30 days I have had problems with. I can't believe it. The bidders either defaulted on paying, gave an invalid email address, no contact etc. An entire range of reasons why I had to file for my fees. they are not just kids, there was a few I knew for sure that were way over 21. I was selling antiques, new & used things and toys. I think they might be collectible toys not sure. I have over 200 positive FBs without any negatives and have been selling for a few years. Needless to say I am very concerned.

My latest concern is this: I received a message through ask a question: "I would like to know that this is in no way damaged and is in perfect condition. That you definitly have it and won't trick me (bad memories)

I thought, HUMMM a kid again? I referred him to my other auctions for the same item that I have sold in the past 30 days as well as my FB for such items. I asked and I was right. He is 12 years old. He says his dad is helping him with this and his dad doesnt know how to send emails. As soon as I found out that he was 12 years old I blocked him from bidding. I just do NOT want to go through another auction problem. doesnt look like the dad is much help, he has 0 FB.

Now he is contacting me asking why he can't bid on the item! What do you think? Should I unblock this kid from bidding?

DO NOT UNBLOCK HIM! A 12 year old has no business bidding in auctions. Geesh, all we need are the kindergarten set bidding all over the place. His parent needs to do this. You cannot enter into a contract of any kind with a minor!

I agree. Even if he is bidding and has his dad's consent and help. Doesn't look like dad knows what he's doing either or can much control what his kid does.

You wouldnt believe some of the adults that have been bidding and emailing like kids lately. I even had a doctor that I had to file for FVF on. Unbelievable.

Here's a story:

I don't normally do videogames on eBay, but had 20 or so Gameboy Advance games that I wanted to move in a hurry so I put them on eBay a couple weeks ago. GBA games are VERY popular with theyounger kids, so I pretty much expected problems.

Every one of them had a bid at closing. Since I started them low, that wasn't much of a surprise.

Then the surprise came. Every single one of them was paid for within three days. turns out AT LEAST FOUR of them were very young children bidding with their parents help.

I was amazed at the speed of the payments. Probably just dumb luck.

Underage Users

All eBay users must be 18 years of age or older to buy or sell on eBay. If you believe another member is underage, please report this user's ID and include any relevant information. If you have an email from the member, please be sure to include a copy with the full header included.

Just FYI.

Replay - I think it depends largely on the items. One thing I have noticed is that younger male buyers are more likely to pay than young females. I have an item that I sell that appeals generally to males - teens to mid 20's - they bid well and often and pay quickly. I dumped a line that appealed to teen girls because they ignored TOS, tried to dictate terms (even asking if I would accept trade instead after auction end) and in the end, 50% ended up as deadbeats.

Women shop
Men buy
