Well, I just got my first neg - from a newbie, of course. I was hoping for a little help finding the right words for feedback for this buyer. Apparently he thought this item was a mens size when the auction clearly stated it was a boys size - in 2 places. In his feedback he claims item was not what was advertised. Simply not true. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would give a negative back stating it was as advertised. I know people will jump on me saying it is retalitory to do that, so go ahead and join the line to post...If it was not listed as such and the error was mine, I would NOT give a negative in return...When I've done everything right, they are going to get that negative from me.

I don't think it's retaliatory at all. Lack of communication on the buyer's part is a valid reason to neg. They should have contacted Chathamsue to try and work it out. And even assuming she has a no refund rule then it is more important that the buyer read everything carefully before bidding. She doesn't deserve to take the blame because the buyer was a careless reader.

Be sure you reply calmly to your neg so future bidders will get your side.

This is what happens when people dont read. Why do sellers waste time writing descriptions when buyers only read what they want to. I would cut and paste the description into an email to your buyer and explain that if he had read the entire description that the size was in there. Did you put it in the Childs catagory? If so mention that also. If all of that is in your description NO REFUND.

If his Negative said something about size I would respond to his negative with: Size stated twice in auction, buyer didn't read it. No refund buyers mistake.

I think you almost have to plaster "child's size" over the picture. I have problems where bidders just look at the photo. They then email me with questions. The answers to those questions can be found in my auction description. I politely answer them while cursing under my breath. I deal mainly in jewelry and if there is a flaw, I not it not only in the description, but have started noting it on the photo itself. So far, it's worked.

Oh, well we live and we learn. I would respond to his neg the way Libra63 noted. Nice, polite and unthreatening. Don't want to scare future bidders away.

The items were listed under the boys accessory category. The size was listed as a boys medium, sizes 10 to 13. If these had been mens socks they would not have been a medium if they were a size 10 to 13. The last part of the listing states that I have "more little boys" items for auction. They even look small!
I turned this guy in to ebay for emailing me prior to the close of the auction to sell outside of ebay. The most they did was to warn him since he is still around.
