Does anyone use this service? Well I am going to start this because it is so much easier than writing one of my own. A buyer who doesn't get in touch with me after 3 days the auction ends deserves a reminder like that and not a personal one. I am not spending anymore time on a auction than I need to. If they don't have the courtesy to answer my personal WBN then I think this is the way to go.

A very good way to chalk up negatives........An NPB after 3 days isn't ridiculous it outrageous

Use that function in say, a week. It's then an OFFICIAL Request. Tends to WAKE then up! but 3 days, yeah,,not a good idea. Weekends, business, etc. Oh! and the Duh's,,,I forgot?

It's actually the beginning of the npb process. 3 days? Nope! Not a god way to say Hello! Thanks. blah, blah, blah

Yes, that's crazy. If you want instant payment, sell on Half or Amazon. Ebay is intended to be more flexible.

I don't even send out REMINDERS until 10 days have passed. I don't believe I've ever done a NPB before 20 Days.

I don't think this is any worse then those automated WBN. There is nothing that says it is the beginning of a NPB and I don't take it as such. The subject in the email says. Payment reminder for item: then states the item. This email is not threatening but cordial. It comes from a different email address than mine. Maybe they have spam filter set high and they don't receive my WBN. How do I know if they don't answer. I am not a big time seller but I hate it when the merchandise sits around my house as I am sure many of you don't like it either. I have never done a NPB until maybe 25 days and I have only done 3 in 4 years. So I don't consider this a start of one.

Ebay makes you wait three days before sending a reminder. That doesn't mean you MUST send it on the third day. It's available any time after 3 days. If you want to wait until 10 days have past, then send it then. I've found it works much better wheh the reminder comes from Ebay than if I send it myself. It seems to rattle the bidder's cage a little more.

Does anyone have the text of it that they can post here, or is the text of it available at eBay? (I'll go look.)

Just curious about the wording. I've been forwarding my WBN to those who don't contact me, but if the eBay notice isn't worded too negatively, perhaps it might be easier...and more effective.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, I can answer my own question. It looks like this:

Congratulations, you are the winning bidder/buyer on the following listing:

Title: XXXX (Item# XXXXX)
Final listing price:$XXX
Listing end: XXXXX
Seller User ID: XXXXX
Seller E-mail: XXXXX

Thank you for your winning bid/purchase. Please contact the seller for
payment information as soon as possible. Remember: your winning
bid/purchase is a binding contract to purchase this item.

Then, it has options for you to enter the shipping address, shipping amount, payment methods, etc.

Not bad. Wonder if having it come from eBay might be more effective. Anyone have experience with this?

For me, it's been more effective than resending my WBN. I've had bidders that never responded to my WBN but were very quick to make payment arrangements after getting the reminder from Ebay.

"Please contact the seller for
payment information as soon as possible."

Um, duh, why didn't the seller send payment info after getting the item sold notice from ebay?

The seller has some responsibility, too.

Capo hit it right on the head. YOU seller need to make contact with your own info. Oh well, to each his own. That IS the begining of the NPB process. Because ALOT of the time that's right where it ends up. 20 days of b.s.

I let e-bay send the winning notice,I let paypal send one too and on top I make personal contact any where from a few mins. to within a couple of hours after sale.Sometimes you get those awesome buyer that answer ...Then sometimes you get those who don't for a few days ...then you get the real butt heads that don't make any contact ...so I send the three day reminder in about 5 days....If they don't make contact in 5 more days I'll send another personal note ...You know Hi just check if I have a buyer out there ...Haven't heard from you yet Blah Blah Blah...I'll wait another 5-7 days then start the NPB alert...then I wait another 10 days before I hit the FVF.That gives them 25 to 27 days to pay...I think thats a fair amount of time ....I've only had 1 buyer in alittle over a year that hasn't paid in the time frame...I was his 3rd strike...boy was he mad ...oh well you should have paid....Save'n my fellow e-bayers from having to deal with a dead beat buyer.

I'm with Libra - but I do wait 4 days.
I give 10 days to pay and I don't care if they take 9 days 23 hours and 59 minutes to pay - longer if they ask - but be good enough to acknowledge your win so I don't think you are a non-paying bidder.

lady,,non paying WINNER! Like they wun, they hit a button that said,,I want that!!!!

edited to say,,,I saw, three years ago from a seller,,,,high bidder, blah, blah, blah. and realized right then,,,,yes, high bidder, Winner has NOTHING to do with this,,,,,being cynical,,,,,You click, you Bought. And that is EXACTLY the way I have looked at this ever since.

Update: I sent one reminder to a buyer that won the auction 10 days ago. I heard back from her within 4 hours and she stated she had computer problems and only got the ebay notice. Went to PayPal and Paid me. The other one was 4 days ago and I haven't heard anything back from her.

I send a WBN within about an hour after the auctions end and it is a personal note. In it I say all the particulars and at the end I say.

"Please acknowledge by using this email with your name and address so that I can get your package ready. Thanks again for bidding and I hope to hear back from you within 3 days. Sign it with my name and address.

From now on I am using the automated reminder from ebay as I find it a very cordial reminder and it comes from eBay so I am sure they look at it.

"Capo hit it right on the head. YOU seller need to make contact with your own info."

Capo & Fetish:

I DO send all my contact info at least twice before resorting to the Ebay payment reminder. I only send it IF they don't respond to my emails.

I have something to add here that is sort of on the subject!

I've started putting "From Ebay seller: WIDGET #XXXXXXXXXXXX" on my end of auction messages. Otherwise, they were looking like duplicates of the Ebay congratulatory auction-end messages to buyers, and I suspected some people thought my EOA was just a duplicate of the Ebay EOA.

Sometimes I wouldn't get a response from my buyers. Since I started this new wording, I haven't had those problems. Just a thought!
