OH, THAT'S REAALLLLLY NIIIIIICE! WOW! It's a beautiful example from the Art Nouveau / Arts and Crafts era.
More Art Nouveau, but if you can fit both of those terms in the title you'll get alot of attention. It dates from as early as 1890s- 1920. I love the unusual shield shape of the mirror. It looks to be in good condition, just worn from usage. Is the wood inlaid? Even better. If the wood is inlaid, You can clean it up by putting just a little bit of Old English lemon oil on a rag and working it into the wood quickly ( don't put the lemon oil directly on the piece). Wipe it right off , let it dry for a minute and then buff polish it up. If it is paper veneer decoration, don't use lemon oil or any liquid cleaner to clean it up. Please post the auction# here if you are listing it, I would like to bid! Thanks!

Thank you Inot !! ...I had no idea...it's not inlaid wood so I'll leave it alone..I'd rather say like I always do.I don't know if it's safe to clean or not so I'll leave it to the new owner.I'll let you know when I post it.Prolly this week sometime.

Morning:

Would agree with the 1920's, maybe 30's -- looks almost like typical depression or waterfall furniture. Probably part of a set that also included comb, brush, nail buffer, etc. Nice shape to the mirror; it should do well for you.

And leave it alone. Nothing worse than furniture polish or oil on any antique piece; it will gum up over time. The worn spots on the wood are the remnants of varnish, and only an application with varnish of the same tint will bring it back.

Good luck!

B/

It's a neat looking mirror and I hope you do really well with it as I don't think these are offered that often.

I also like your little hedgehogs. You find some interesting things, don't you?

Bidders love the whackiest stuff. It's always surprising to me what they pay for some things but I've also bought things on ebay that others have just shrugged at and they think I'm whacky for buying it.

As you know, it's more fun selling when you can get different things all the time. I think it would be boring if I only put out the same items week after week and knew pretty well what they would fetch.

I've noticed this year that bidding picks up a day or so before my auctions end and I'm usually happy with the results.

Good luck with yours, you should do well.
