Hi - during the past months, I've been experimenting with use of the galley and non-gallery items. There doesn't appear to be a large difference between the items sold, viewed and final sales. I sell old and vintage items...
Has anyone else done the same
thanks

I have done the same experiments over the years and found the only upgrade that will actually help you sales is the front page feature. All of the other upgrades did not add a significant number of page views or sales to justify using them. And in 99.9% of the cases, the front page feature is simple too expensive to use. You are best getting the best title wordage to have potential bidders find your item.

I agree that the way you title your auction will greatly impact the number of views you get. Sometimes, though, it's difficult to get it all in in the amount of space you are alloted. I use the gallery feature as a seller. As a buyer, the gallery items are the first I look at. They are more "in your face."

I sell mostly vintage and antique jewelry. I find that the word vintage gets more hits than antique. Therefore, it becomes a vintage antique. A contradiction, I know, but what works, works.

Then there are the days that nothing short of selling your item for under a buck works. Still, we keep plugging away.

I think it depends on what you are selling...I sell postcards and I don't think the gallery makes much difference (though I have to admit I usually put galleries on my higher priced items just in case).

I do notice on eBay's "Gallery for a penny" days my sales go down and not up - maybe the sellers who can't write a title benefit from the gallery the most!

A quarter is a lot of extra fee on a low value auction item. If ebay hadn't got greedy and would only charge a nickel for the gallery they would get many more takers.

It's a sucker option in my opinion.
