Okay - Here we go again. The Great Debate of Days you run your auctions. What do you find best ~~ 3 - 5 - 7 or 10 days. I usually always go 5 days. Seems to work well for me. Then my friend started running hers only 3 days and she is doing great!!! I am amazed at the bids she is getting. Let me know what you think. I never run the 10 day. I don't want to pay the extra fee. There are enough fees already. I am anxious to get your opinions.

I think it's not a science, it's an art! Depends. And then depends some more. I think with run of the mill collectibles, not high end, 7 days is just fine. But 10 days for more valuable things, to get the most exposure. I have sold things on 5 day and even 3 day auctions when desperate, but I always put at the very top of the item description in bid caps something like "NOTE: This is a three-day auction." That should get their attention.
If it's true, though, and I think it is, that most searchers (most, not all) are looking at "new today" and "ending today" only, then 3-day auctions make lots of sense. I'd love to see a scientific comparison--say, sell the very same widget in the very same week with three, five, seven, or ten-day auctions. Of course, the variable then is that they'd end on different days, so even that isn't very scientific!
