My patience is wearing thin ~ this was to be my last two weeks selling before I take some time off to get ready for my twins.
I have had to deal with more Morons this past month than in my three years selling on eBay!
I have very little patience left for idiots ~ please help me refrain from going postal on this one!
In a nutshell:
ending 5-30
Four auctions sniped at opening bid of $2.22, each has shipping of $2.50, each states that I will combine shipping.
Normally these would have been listed higher & sold for more but it was tme to empty out my eBay room to make it into a nursery ~ cash is better than boxes approach so someone got a steal of a deal on these 4 auctions of upscale boutique baby clothing(usually that makes me feel good, not this time, though!)
Winning bidder is NOT a Newbie (233fb AND currently has over 20 items listed as a Seller)
Our e-mail synopsis below:
Bidder 5-31
please send total w/combined ship
Me 5-31
total due is $8.88 + $4.50 combined shipping, USPS priority mail.
Bidder 6-1
will you ship first classs/parcel post for less?
Me 6-1
If put in a bubble mailer, postal expense will be higher for 1st class than for priority due to the $1 expense for the bubble mailer (item will weigh over 13 ounces)
Bidder 6-2
sends zip code for postal expense
Me 6-2 (losing patience)
wish you would have told me that shipping was an issue PRIOR to bidding ~ please lmk how you would like to proceed
6-4
FOUR freaking PayPal payments received, total fees of $1.49.
My take is that she knew exactly what she was doing when she split up those moronic payments. She knew darn well that I would be zapped on fees.
She sells, she takes PayPal, and the shipping fees in her listings cover waaay more than postage and PayPal charges.
I am NOT going to play these SmartAZZ games.
I AM going to send back the FOUR payments and request ONE payment (PayPal fees of 60 cents).
Can you help me word my e-mail to her?
Should I acknowledge her bitchy maneuver?
Void the auctions?
She got a GREAT deal ~ $125 of brand new boutique clothing for less than $15 and she wants to have a pi$$ing contest?
Not with THIS hormonal pregnant lady!
Please help me to refrain from my initial reaction!
BTW, my ID on these auctions has 366fb, member since 1-2001, selling only.
Thanks for your input!

Being a seller, maybe she split the payments for her record keeping...
The only one I see here being a smart a$$ is some pregnant person that needs to go have some babies a leave eBay alone for awhile.

Seller ever returns my payment, that will be the only one they get...

Dear sweet customer!!
You have sent 4 separate payments which indicates you have chosen not to take advantage of my offer of combining orders for one s&h fee. Please send an additional amount of xxxx dollars to cover s&h for the 4 packages.
Combined shipping means multiple orders combined into one payment I send one package.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

there is something to be said about this practice-cheapen thy products and thou begets cheap bidder!
if you are willing to pay ebay 30 cents for listing an item at 2.22,why complain??

Hi Zoomin...I think alldings says it well....KILL EM' with Kindness.
But I'd drop the "sweet" customer bit.
BEST of LUCK TO YOU with your preparations and delivery and the months ahead!!!
Have a wonderful summer....I'm sure you are'nt going to miss ebay!

Refund, and then create an invoice that has all four on there with an explantion concerning the one payment/one shipping price. And ignore anyone who says you are grumpy...you deserve to be grumpy.
PS: I have refunded multiple paypals before with a simple explanation and never had anyone complain. You are right, she knew what she was doing. You are the boss on this one. C'mon Fluffy give some good advice.

Hi,

My wife and I had boy/girl twins just about 3 years ago. Good luck, and I hope you have a McDonalds with a playzone near you (the food sucks, but the play zone is the greatest place for a husband or wife to take the kids while the other gets some extra Sunday morning sleep).

12pole:
recordkeeping would be just as easy sending one payment by using PayPal entry of auction numbers (duh)
Seller ever returns my payment, that will be the only one they get...
I thought I was clear, but I'll spell it out:
that would be just fine by me.
The bidder can accept the great deal or not, but I am not interested in anyone screwing me at this point in my pregnancy

alldings:
Much closer to the input I was seeking!
Well worded, thanks
stopwhining:
why pay the 30 cents to list?
THe items could've gone for much more ~ I have no problem with having them sell for the cost of listing just to get them out of here.
My problem is with the high maintenance buyer.
inot:
thanks!
Kindness is almost always the best way to go, it's just hard to fake sometimes
baylor:
yes, this isn't the first time that I have had this situation with multiple payments. I usually send a Paypal invoice to avoid the problem but the communication up to that point had me thinking she was going to flake on the auction entirely.
No one has ever complained to me about refunding and resending payment ~ I've done it three or four times ~ actually, the all told me that they appreciate the explanation (& the combined shipping savings!) so they are more than happy to comply.
I *feel* her response coming so it was hard to find nicey-nice words!
thanks for the help!

Zoomin - very plainly and simply tell her that you have returnd her payments because they are insufficiient. I she wishes to have four seperate shipments to please resend seperate payments for the four items with full postage. If on the otherhand she would prefer her items to be shipped in one package with a single combined shipping cost, you would prefer a single combined payment.

Some one needs another cup of coffee and a chill pill

and it is not the pregnant mom.

{best wishes to you and the health of your babies}

I would have sent them all back also, in this auction she is the buyer NOT the seller. She is just squezzzzing you, and seeing how far she can go.Don't let her in your space.

neonmania says it well. Combined shipping = combined payments.

There have been several bidders that have done this to me and I just refund their payment with a simple statement that I would like a combined payment. None have refused and they always pay again quickly.

If anyone had the attitude that it was the only payment I would get they would get an NPB alert because they didn't follow my TOS. If that's their only little power trip in life who wants to deal with that mentality or sell to them?

Never, ever get into a pizzing war with anyone, even an idiot.
Just say please send total in one payment, thank you. Leave it at that. If they choose to get anal then you can cancel the sale, however they may neg you.
If you do finish the sale make sure you have tracking etc. so this "bidder" can not play games with you.
Yep, some sellers make the worst buyers.

Here is another perspective. I was reading this on the PS Board the other day. And that is with combined shipments, you lose Seller Protection with Paypal if there is only one payment. Sorry, I clicked into the Topic on the PS Board, then my phone rang and it was an important call, my attention was diverted and so I don't remember every little detail in that topic other than seller's lose Paypal Seller Protection if they accept just one payment for combined shipping.

I am not hotcupoftea on eBay.

I saw a bumper sticker on a pickup truck today which said "I'M OUT OF ESTROGEN AND I HAVE A GUN." Love it.

hotcup - isn't it just the opposite, that you lose seller protection if you accept multiple payments for one item?

(I'm feeling too lazy right now to go look it up...)

there is no way for paypal to tie the dc with a specific shipment or transaction.
as long as the dc shows it is shipped to buyer zipcode,it satisfies the seller protection requirement of dc.
in fact seller can use the same dc over and over again for all the transactions going to the buyer within a certain period of time

If you receive 4 payments you'll have to send 4 packages with tracking if you want seller protection. If you get 4 payments and send everything in one package and the buyer says that he only received 1 item then you're out of luck as you won't be able to prove you sent everything in one package.

Paypal has recently made it easy to pay for multiple items with their new consolidated payment form.

Tell your bidder to click on the 'Items Won' link just above the recent activity table.

This will list all unpaid for purchases.
Have your buyer click the 'Pay' button for any one of your items that he won.

This will produce a page listing all of the unpaid for items that he won from you.

He can then enter the shipping and insurance amounts.
Press the 'Continue' button to get to the review page. If everything is OK, press the 'Send Money' button to complete the transaction.

bkmunoe, I had not noticed that. Muchas gracias!

zoomin, When I realized what you were selling I had to laugh. My sister (who just had her first) was so inundated with baby clothes that she says she'll have to change the baby's outfit seven or eight times a day to get him in and out of everything before he outgrows everything. She took a mess of stuff back and exchanged it for store credit she can use later to buy toddler clothes.

Good luck in dealing with this last jerk! And twelvepole, May I very sweetly suggest that you swallow two live cocker spaniels and carry them around for nine months, to see how patient you feel?

I would refund all payments (if she is a seller, of COURSE she knew what she was doing) and tell her she can resend with full shipping for each item, or combine payments into one paypal payment. I've done that before with buyers, and I explained it very matter of fact (i.e. I reduced shipping costs to save you money, but I have to pay for each paypal transaction, so if you get the reduced shipping quote, that comes with me only getting one paypal payment combined) - I've never had a single person write back and be angry at me, most say they did not know and would be happy to oblige...Good luck with that, and the babies!

that was humor.
Even on your high horse it went over your head?
what a shame that the connection to eBay, PayPal, and buyers is not readily apparent to you.
Why not just put me on ignore, eh?

clivebarkerfan:
that is the greatest idea!
I keep wondering why no one has invented a double carseat yet!
are you game?

If you do the double carseat, at some point you have o deal with this..."MOM! HE'S TOUCHING ME!".

But, I guess I COULD make it with a divider! (and the gears begin to turn...)

For those of you who do not visit the Round Table. Twelve has a very strange outlook on pregnancy. It is entirely the womans fault and responsibility - the man is an innocent VICTIM of their deceptive (or irresposible) ways and the womans sole right is to shut up smile and take it. Apparently she is also never allowed to refer to the pregnancy, nor to make humoreous plays on words which refer it. We think he has issues but he denies it and calls us evil and coniving beasts

There will be no sneakiness in my life. Everyone who knows me well agrees that there should be no children.
Otherwise, my life would be a series of "You know, I had the baby with me when I went in to Wal-Mart ... that was this morning ... do I remember putting her back in her car seat?"
