half.com? I sell video tapes in half, and I am sick and tired of this annoying video store keeping buying my items! Why?Well because the first 2 times I sold him, he filed with half that I sold him an item that was not of "staed quality" and when I issued a refund and gotten my item back, it wasnt the same item!

Yes, it was the same movie, but not from me! He is a video store, and the address this clown wants me to mail the item to is his video stores "Rental replacement" department! So I send him my "very good condition tape", and he swaps it with his rental stores beat up dead tape twice, i emailed half, and their a"customer is always right" attitude basically i am up the creek without a paddle!

He try to buy 2 more videos from me, I wound up cancelling it, and of course he leaves a negative feedback(even though the transaction didnt happen!). Now he bought anolther video, if I cancel, he will leave another negative, if I ship it to him, I will get back his video store tape instead, this is a no win situation, why is half CS so damn on the buyers side!? How do you block him from nuying? This is not like ebays, as half do not have a block buyer section! I feel like taking half to court for allowing fraud like this to happen, what should I do?

Don't list on Half.com anymore. Half is going away soon anyway. The poor customer service and feedback loopholes at Half drove you away. I
f the pesky Half buyer is an ebay seller then you can make his life miserable with a throw away buyers account.

Well the last reply was ridiculous. Does a company go out of business if one person irks them.. NO! Don't suggest this poster quit selling.
I would suggest contacting ebay and see if they can give any suggestions. I don't like half.com's 'customer is always right' attitude either. Way to easy for the buyer to rip off honest sellers. But I also know I have made a small mint off of selling on there.
I don't know for sure how to block but there should be some way. Or can't you cancel a sale on a bidder?

Hi,

I did cancel 2 orders from him, and both times I gotten a negative feedback from him. Half's feedback system is warped, for a buyer can rate you even though you didnt sell them the item (cancelled!). Dont need anymore neg from this crook. Thanks god my half account isnt connected to my ebay seller account.

my e-bay and half.com are connected so I think if you go to e-bay and add them to your blocked buyer list under your half.com name it should take care of your problem

Ebay and Half many be connected but I don't think a blocked ebay user works in Half. ( the ebay's stores do not let seller's block users ) Half.com is a VERY poor place to sell. It's going away soon. You'll have to adjust to the loss of Half soon anyway. Sell on ebay. If you can't sell on ebay sell somewhere else.

compare the new Half.com homepage to ebay's home page. Almost the same. Ebay is preparing the holdout half.com users for the upcoming transition so it will not be such a big transition at all.

I think I'd try an experiment and post on my ebay blocked bidder list the address or user name of someone in my family (temporarily, of course!) Ask that person then to bid on (1) ebay and (2) Half.com for one of your items and see what happens.

I remember some time back discussion of half.com being folded into ebay. Then I think they changed their mind. Do you have any official documentation that it is going away, I have not seen anything lately from ebay on that at all.

I have different accounts for half and ebay - I care a lot less about my half.com feedback. The way it is set up, I don't think most people even look at feedback there, they just look for the lowest price. I've gotten quite a few undeserved negs on half, what are you going to do? At least you can neg them back. I would take the negs over shipping to a company that switches like that.

Please post and let us know if the block works. I would LOVE to block a few of these morons. Overall though half is a great thing for me, I've been really happy with sales the past few months.

Thanks, I will be sad to see it go, but I sell stuff on both sites now, so I will be doing all ebay in 18 months. This definitely will affect the lower end stuff, which I try to stay away from anyway (unless I buy bulk lots) because it is totally not worth it to list these on ebay to pay a listing fee, paypal, etc. At least on half I just pay the 15%.

At least on half I just pay the 15%.

That supports my theory that sellers do not mind paying a fairly high FVF in relation to ebay's FVF if the listing is free. Amazon is 99 cents plus 15% on sold items if you do not pay a monthly marketplace fee.
Why not make everything a free insertion listing and charge a 15% FVF or a minimum 25 cents selling fee whichever is greater on ebay? The signpost and illegal auctions can be dealt with by NARUing those sellers and ebay would still make money on add-ons like featuring, Ipix, bold, etc.

I don't know if I am all sellers though. 15% on half works fine, I don't think it would work on ebay. I tend to buy things in lots, and some things are better for ebay, and some for half. If it is really cheap, or really unusual, half might be better. You'll be killed with the fees on the cheap stuff on ebay, and the unusual stuff may stay listed for months before it sells on half. It is not worth the fee to be relisted on ebay. Also on paypal, you don't have to worry about paypal, which can add up too. I know that I could not accept paypal, but I believe that would affect sales.

I don't think you would find much support for a higher fvf and free listing from most sellers. I don't think ebay would go for it either, as I think all it would do is overload the system with people trying to sell things for unrealistic prices because it wouldn't cost anything to try. That 30 cent listing fee really is a deterrant to keep the real junk off the site.

ironking, this is theft, it is fraud, it is a crime. I would report it to the police or the FBI.

I am serious.

He did report it! Half didn't care.

Okay, with Half.com going away in 18 months or less, what will become of the millions of book listings and other common items that must sit for months or longer to find a buyer? Is ebay naive enough to think those sellers will pay a 30 cents per week listing fee for items that have little chance of selling in only one week? Is ebay willing to simply let millions of items go away? I guess so.
