Must be the time of year. Sort of in between seasons. I don't remember it being this slow last year at this time.

i agree, but since the rain has stopped for the first time in a month here, maybe everyone is just taking advantage of the sun this week.

I have never agreed with all the myriads of reasons that sellers come up with for poor sales in general. The weather reason is the weakest but then I live in a place where the weather is almost always nice the year round so I'm biased against the weather argument anyway because I can not relate to snow or cold or even rain very much.
The reason for poor sales in general has to be the overall poor economy. No extra money, no certainty of employment, etc. have to be the major reason for poor ebay sales.
Now, let's see from a few sellers about their 98% sell through rate ( and don't forget to mention if you start everything at a penny with no reserve ).

I did real well last week, sold alot of books and McDonalds Toys and alot of CDs. But this week I've run higher dollar items and I doubt if I will do that well.If I sell alot of the Cds,I'll be happy with that. I'm putting back the items I'm not selling on E-Bay for the 127 Yardsale. I have bought alot of stuff I can't get any money for on E-Bay but it will sell there.

If it was any slower, I'd be buying back what I've already sold.

I think it really depends entirely on what you sell. all of my auctions go Sunday to Sunday .... one account - I have bids on 80% right now, one is about 40% and one has no bids (although to be fair - really obscure items with super limited audience)

(None start at a penny - in fact the lowest priced ones are the ones with no bids)

As for you Jack - Duck hell - I'm going for the steal baby

Auctionace, my sell through rate has been 100% the last few weeks ( I'm not bragging, just stating the facts). My "normal" sell through rate is 95-98% all year long. I presently list an average of 50 items per week. I have been starting all of my auctions at $9.99 for the past 3 years. Lately, I've been disappointed by the final prices of some things, so for the past two weeks, I have tried a different strategy...I am starting my auctions ranging from $9.99 up to $24.99 and I can't believe I have just as many opening bids on the $24.99 items as the $9.99 items! SO I am actually having a great couple of weeks. Who knows what the summer will bring, but right now I am happy!
Good Luck everybody, hang in there!
YOU GO JACK!! BRING IT HOME BABY!!

What can happen with some of the more valuable items is if you start the price too low, it will throw up a red flag to many bidders giving them the impression that there is something wrong with the item because it is priced too low. I have fallen into this trap a few times myself. I will have an item that should have tons of bids getting a decent price for it only to get no bids because the price was too low. Many times, if you price something for what it is worth, you will get even more bids raising it well above what it is worth. As far as it being slow, if you would have said that last week, I would have agreed, but for some reason the bidders have come out of the woodwork and nearly all of my auctions have bidders this week. Traditionally right after school lets out, the auction business tends to slow for the summer, then will pick back up after Labor Day. Summer time is vacation time for most people and they tend to keep their money for their trips. During the summer, I keep a handful of listings going just to keep the interest and get all of my late spring finds ready for the Christmas rush which online usually starts in September.
