My husband just bought this wedding doll, but I can't find any markings on her and I am not sure of her ethnicity. I was thinking Jamaican, or maybe South American? Her head is made of a breakable material, porcelain or ceramic maybe? Her body is kind of like stuffed firm. Her arms and legs are kind of like nubs, they just end. There is no attempt at hands or feet. Her hands are also sewn right to the dress. Her necklace and earrings are made of either shells or seeds.

Any ideas?

My guess would be Jamaican. Cute doll.

I'm not sure it's a wedding doll.

Head looks more like glazed pottery than porcelain.

I assumed it was a bride since it was all in white, do you think it might be some other type of outfit?

deltim: White as wedding garb is pretty Western-centric, though. While I am no expert on other cultures, I do know that their wedding wear can be quite colorful. They don't have the "white = virginity" notion we're imbued with.

They are actually called "shouter baptists".
Look at the small pic and all the folks in the background of the second pic.
