Hi!

I picked this up cuz it was cute. Searches come up empty, so I'm asking your advice. Is it worth the 1/2 price listing fee or should I just toss it in the Goodwill box?

Yeah, its cute, but what is it worth? Probably what you paid for it.

Is that a date of 1938 or 1958 on the bottom? I can't make it out

sanmar, I paid a quarter for it, more than listing fees.

It says 1958

There MUST be someplace you can list this! Did you search for "Shafford" (on the bottom) to see what they made and when?

Kitchen Collectibles?
Weird Stuff?
Pottery and Glass: Made in Japan?
1950s collectibles somewhere?
Candles/candleholders?

It might sell for $10. It's the kind of nutty thing I'd want in my house because of the words and also the candle holder. It's pure kitsch, which I love in moderation.

Why guess about the value? It will only cost 15 cents to find out for sure. I would list it. You may wind up with a pleasant surprise.

It's not a candle holder, it's a pen holder without the pen.

Thanks for the opinions. I'm still not sure which box it will go in, the one marked auction or the one marked Goodwill.

Hi, giving it to Goodwill will get you a tax break. Listing it on ebay and you will pay fees and taxes. LOL

pclady.. try a search using "monk" ... you may find it worthwhile to list it.

I believe your figurine is Brother Juniper. I would list him with the Keywords "Shafford" & "Figurine". If you do a search you for Brother Juniper you will see quite a few similiar items & you should certainly recoup your investment. Good Luck!

A search on 'monk' was okay, but the Brother Juniper search was the jackpot. Although most have sold for ten or less dollars, I did find this one. Nice!

Thanks for the help. You are all great.
