Well here is another in the many recent sad excuses not to pay:
My wife has had to go to hospital for urgent medical treatment. This means her outstanding auctions must be cancelled. We do not know how long she will be there. She asks you to accept her apology in this matter and hopes you understand her situation. Thank you
Could it be that to ship the item they won to Australia is $25??? They still have active bids.
My response is, I will excuse the transaction if you send me the listing and FVF's via Paypal within 24 hours.
Boy I am glad vacation starts tomorrow! I will be hitting the high seas on a cruise to Mexico. Internet access on board is $0.75 per minute so I will not be looking much at my auctions

I can certainly relate to that one. I have had three non paying bidders in the last couple of weeks. Their excuses were (1) I have been sick for a month and haven't been on the computer (2) My husband left me and took all the money but he is supposed to give me some shortly and I will pay and (3) the email address on ebay is not the one I get email from so when I got the npb notice it was the first time I knew I had not paid..duh.

If the husband has the time to send you an email with the story, he could just as easily paid you. Whether the story is true or not, going to the hospital is not a reason for not paying a seller.
You are too easy. My approach would have been to say I am sorry his wife is in the hospital, but since he is online he can send payment for her through Paypal. Then if payment doesn't arrive by the terms stated in your auction, start the NPB process. Don't get involved with the story.
Have fun on your cruise. Try not to gain too much weight.

Hotcup:
If I do not receive the eBay fees by the time I leave for the cruise tomorrow, I will start the NPB process. At least when I get back from the cruise, the 7 days required to start will have past.
As fo gainig weight, I plan to start an excercise routine on the cruise so hopefully, I will not gain a single pound

Hey Marc, if you don't gain weight on the cruise, that might qualify you for a mention in the Guiness Book of World Records.
Be sure to post back to this thread when you get back and put yourself on the scale. Be honest, let everyone know the truth.
I am not hotcupoftea on eBay.

Three years ago I went on a cruise in the middle of working on losing weight, I came back 2 pound lighter. I started at 250 pounds back then and now 3 years later I have maintained well under 200 so it should not be too bad!

marcn, have fun and congrats on your weight loss.
a co-worker and his wife go on at least one cruise a year.
last year they flew to Hawaii and took a cruise from there...when we asked how it was he answered with "the worst cruise we have ever taken, I only gained 3 pounds" LOL!

This thread sure changed topics quick! I will keep an eye on our listings while on the cruise. By the middle of next week I will have about 150 active listings as I have a bunch scheduled to launch during the week. I'll have to keep it short as the fee is $0.75 per minute of I can get 100 minutes for $55
